Wow, looking back at these old previews shows just how far he has come. Also, I find it funny, just how far ahead he had planed. I mean some of the areas seen in this preview are not even out yet.

Yes this is truly a wonderful gift with all the hard work DocM64 has put into this. It gives us something to hold on to and cherish while hopefully retro makes another metroid game in the future. Yup, the final product is indeed amazing and it's quality is basically on par with Nintendo's. I still can't believe the amount of dedication that had to go into completing a project after 8 years of work. Hopefully everyone had a chance to get their copies before the download page was taken down. Tis a real shame indeed but a perfect present for Metroids 30th Anniversary.

+Slovak Mountain Man Yeah, the good news is it wasn't a C&D, which luckily for us even if the main host download pages aren't available for now it can still be passed on with other links haha. I'm just happy I got it before Nintendo did. My question is, why did they wait until the full game was out? It's no secret that this game was in development for nearly a decade... It sucks for those who weren't able to get it right away. I was about to be one of them actually. I'm glad DocM64 isn't discouraged by it though. I'm sure things will cool down soon. For now we just gotta see how the rest of the millions of Metroid fans are going to feel about this XD

I dont know if you will see this comment but I was lucky enough to get the full version of the game on my computer, and I just wanted to say thank you for crafting an experience I have been dying for since I became a Metroid fan in 2011. man, the game was already this far in 2009? the fact that it was released in 2016 just goes to show how much effort was put into this game to make it just right. you couldve possibly released it in 2012 and have it only be half as good, but you kept working on it.

That is one slick looking Gamma! Props to ya. The spring ball guardian's entrance was a nice touch too. Only thing I didn't like about it was using Arachnus to fill that role. But that actually makes sense if you think about it, so all's well and good. Excellent work.

@RawhunterX I agree. His ideas for giving each of the general areas of the original game a unique theme is, in and of itself, incredible detailing. If Nintendo has any sense, they'll produce this as WiiWare and DoctorM will live like the king he is.

Loved the monochrome Samus at the Varia upgrade, nice touch. I also loved what you did with the area where you fight the Omegas! That area was nerve wrecking enough in the original :P

You can still play it, there are torrents and if you ask nicely people will google drive share it with you. So far the game is at the full release and has fusion modes. It's pretty neat.

I can't freaking wait for this. The demo is beyond awesome with how well it keeps to the original game while expanding and improving. I think my favorite thing is how dangerous the Metroids are now, even Alpha's are scary. My first run in with a Gamma was downright terrifying. I am not looking forward to Zetas or Omegas *shudders*

Because the the looks are completely different. When a x-parasite takes over the host it changes in looks. I have a feeling its just a place holder because they have more important things to work on before putting the final polish on the game.

That part of Metroid II with all of the floating things you can stand on at 1: 57, I once got there early because I was falling down a shaft while rapidly pressing the selct button, and I was early in the game and I didn't have all of the neccesarry items or anything. I was scared half to death. Never try to enter a scret world unless you know where you are.

The game engine is already complete and its playable, but Doc its polishing every sprite in the engine to make it perfect, the're a playable demo with the first two areas just to show the amazing work he has done.

Played the demo and it's friggin awesome. It's pretty much up to Nintendo's standards and there are so much little details put in, like the various idle animations and Samus having her cannon aimed in the same direction you were aiming during the turning around animation. The controls are also even more tight and fluid than other Metroid games. I just hope the team gets to finish making the game completely!

You guys really should use the Chozo Statues from Zero Mission. The're sleeker, they have open eyes, blue energy rises out of and sinks back into their hands, and if you use the activate the Morph Ball while in their hands, they replenish your Energy and Ammunition.

What people really must appreciate is that this is a remake, it's even harder to create, I mean it takes a lot of creativity to stay with the old game while improving it with details, you could just create a fresh Metroid story and got yourself easier but chose to make it even better with this remake.

Well, the only problem I saw in this video was the last Metroid, I think the Zeta. It doesn't have a random electric beam from it's mouth, it's a tongue. But besides that, I seriously can't wait for this to release! Keep up the good work :D

@whoisthismaskedman Retro Studios didn't "strike" any "deal" with Nintendo. Nintendo bought out their studio, turning them into a first party developer after seeing their potential on several unreleased Gamecube games, and then approached them to do Metroid Prime. They weren't making Prime beforehand, they were hired by Nintendo and then handed the project.

This looks amazing! A nice blend of metroid fusion with zero mission makes it look all the better. The suit "Transformation" looks really nice, and the beams and the other upgrades do too. If Nintendo cancels this I will never buy another game from them again.

Well no. The game arrived at version 1.3, but Nintendo called via phone the author of SMBX and said him to take down immediately the game and the website. He was really sad. He took down the game, so the last version is the 1.3... probably today we would have a very newer version like the 2.0, just for example. However the author of SMBX is the same author of Terraria, did you know this?
