They won’t because the game only does really good in America in compared to Japan and the Devs don’t like that so that’s why it takes them this long to make new Metroid games because it’s not us they prioritize it’s the natives they seek to appeal to the most.

My take on an updated Samus moveset: Dash attack: The counter kick (Dread Jab: First hit is Counter (Samus Returns) Second hit is the quick shot Down tilt: Slide counter kick (Dread) Up tilt: Similar to Mii gunner's up air (using wide shot) Down Smash: Diffusion blast (Other M/Dread) Side special: Missiles with the same mechanis, however holding the button allows you to free aim (or shoot ice missiles.) Down Special: Still bomb, however holding it creates the cross bomb. Grab: Grapple beam is still used, however animations are all based on Other M's finishing moves, because those looked bad ass.

@@DotHacker99 couldn't agree with you more. I was very disappointed to boot up the Switch, just to see the Dread was the only Metroid game on the Switch completely. They really should be able to port older games onto their Switch or even the last DS model. Like, people would SERIOUSLY buy these games but they make it unavailable. Which results in people making emulations. If they ever release Prime 4, they should definitely look into adding an edition that either remasters or polishes the last 3 games, and add them to Switch. I'd give them so much money for an edition like that.

@Craig Adams I do prefer the prime series to the 2D ones but also do like the 2D ones. It isnt a factoid and yours isn't a factoid either since they're both our subjective opinions and now I'm going to write random stuff that pops into my head because I'm bored waiting in a queue in FFXIV, I could be playing Metroid Bread but my switch is turned off and I'm too lazy to turn it on, even if it is just a click. I don't know why it is like that but I guess I'm just super lazy. It is 3 am and I might go to sleep soon since no-one really should be awake at this point in the night except if their job requires it or something like that. I love all of the Metroid series and will keep on loving it! I can't wait for prime 4 and will be replaying the previous 3 prime games before it releases ^^

This is my first metroid game and I freaking love it. I never had a switch until December, mostly played pc and console. The fact that I got this game simply because it was new and I needed to build a library was the best random/unaware buy I ever did. To simply put it I was never a fan of 2d games, they just never clicked with me and mostly because the ones I played weren't good and left a bad impression. I did watch Woods (BeatemUps) and how he mention metroid and excited he was. Thats when my curiosity peeked, but again it was 2D and my curiosity suddenly fell. Originally I was going to pick up zelda breathe of the wild as my second nintendo switch game and while doing that I saw metroid and took it thinking it was 10 bucks off at Walmart. Shock on me, but I still continued the purchase, and that's how my life got turned upside down for the best. Yes the games layout and system is difficult, mostly getting used to the map and how you traverse it (especially not being familiar with 2D games). It is a bit of a mind boogle and I did take a couple of days break from it and then hope on. This mechanic is the only truly difficult thing I see about this game as it doesn't tell you where to go (but there are guides if your truly stuck), yes the boss fights are challenging but I love dark soul games and have played 4 fromsoft games. So the boss challenge was enjoyable and gives you that badass feel and achievement (it also keeps play time longer). Over all I hope Nintendo continues the metroid series as this is definitely a game that will take new players into a hole new fun world. I can't speak for fans of the series as this is my first metroid game, but I can definitely speak as a new comer that I have been absorbed into the metroid universe and hope a new game is under consideration and soon production. So is this worth a buy, Fuck ya! I never regretted my purchase of this game and its definitely on my personal top 10 games. If your worried about the 2D aspect or even the challenge, then don't be. As mentioned there are guides to help you through. I wrote this huge ass paragraph to maybe and hopefully help any new buyers who are considering this game. I say full send that bitch and pick up a copy.

Metroid for the NES was my entry into the series and I loved everything about it. Well, not having a map sucked and it made exploring very tedious because a lot of the areas looked exactly the same. But they rectified that problem with Super Metroid and knocked it out of the park. Looking forward to playing Metroid Dread and getting those nostalgia juices flowing again

I definitely get your gripes about what the TV does to the image of Dread. It doesn't hurt the quality or expose bad textures, but to me, it definitely has an effect on the intensity of the colors on the screen washing certain things like the contrast of lights in the background against a dark foreground. Again, subjective, and definitely varies on what monitor/tv you use, but that was my experience running it. Otherwise, it's beautiful both docked and handheld!

My first Metroid game was actually Metroid Fusion, which I LOVED. It's extra fun to revisit that vibe, which Dread nails perfectly.

I’ve pretty much played all of them except for the gameboy. My first was the original on the NES and of course I love super Metroid and I’m early in to dread but it seems to be on the same level as super Metroid. In my opinion this is a special game. Love it so far

I was 8 years old when I got to play Metroid Prime, at the time I thought it was a horror game because of the first boss lol and I didn't have a save card so I had to either leave it on or replay it all over again. Fun memories ☺️

My first metroid was the OG nes metroid. Who all remembers the save code Justin Bailey that gave you a powered Samus with wave beam ton of missiles and the missing power suit. Her hair changing color when you used the charge beam was funny too. Wow now I feel old. Thanks

I'm quite surprised to see more than a few outlets bemoaning how the game looks on a TV. I don't know if it's just my TV but even at 55 inches it looks good to me, the fact they chose not to use TAA helps a lot to make it look crisp with surprisingly few jaggies. Maybe it varies from TV to TV but on a decent set it looks pretty darn good to me.

Agreed, looks pretty good. I'm not sure if complaints are coming from the "it needs to look exactly like real life" camp or what, but it looks good.

Maybe it's 4k TV's? I still haven't made the switch to 4k and dread looks great on my 40 inch 1080p TV. I remember keeping a 720p TV around because standard def stuff looked much better on it. To me, playing in handheld mode would be a waste.

@@Frank-xo5he I have a 4k 60in and it looks great to me as well. The only part that looked rough was the cutscene with the friendly bird. The outline of the stairs behind them looked pretty bad. That's all I saw though.

Before Dread, I knew nothing about Metroid. But to prepare myself, I read some stuff from the wiki and got interested with Samus instantly. Then I watched the theme performed by The Game Awards orchestra, and I was sold. So I bought myself a copy, and just like everything stated in this video, this game is just great. It's so smooth and never at one point I noticed any glitch or something wrong with the animation. The final battle was so amazing and badass that I'm planning to get the next game. Solid 9/10 game for me.

first Metroid game was Metroid...pretty sure i rented it. First Metroid game i purchased was Metroid 2 on Gameboy. First Metroid game that got me hooked was Super Metroid, which is right up there with Link to the Past as greatest game of all time.

Definitely want to get this game. Haven’t played Metroid since NES. Ya that long lol. But the gameplay I watch was great but there are a ton of hidden paths that will mess up new players for sure. But I’m excited to try it

Thanks for the video. My first Metroid was the original but I was a little kid back then so I never beat it. Years later I have a Gameboy Advanced and I played and beat Zero Mission and Fusion. I played The Prime series particularly part 1 and Hunters for the Nintendo DS, didn't care for the first person view myself though. I also played Other M and enjoyed it more than most as well as Samus Returns. I'm definitely excited that they finally made a game that takes place after Fusion.
