I love how the Ice Beam, of all things, is pretty much Fusion's version of the Hyper Beam from Super Metroid, but in other Metroid games, the Ice Beam is one of the weakest beams.

It's because it's combined with Plasma and Wave beam. If you only had the Ice beam I'm pretty sure that it would do as much damage as a regular charge.

the Ice Beam is only powerful when combined with the wave beam, which is the only time it freezes or deals extra damage. The rest of the combinations deal the same amount of damage, in my testing.

We need a 2D 3D-depth-enabled sequel to Metroid Fusion on 3DS/NX. This style of game with 2016-17 processing power and graphical capability with spritework. Start Samus with the fully powered Fusion suit and have the final upgrade be a nod to the original fusion suit color scheme, but add more of the purple crystals from the download module on her back and have them function as both jets and the ability to absorb biological energy through osmosis.

Sometimes plasma is the last beam... but ice really shines. There's always a dispute against Ice and Plasma for the powerhouse of Samus' arm cannon... Does anybody know what specifically causes the Speed Booster's startup sound to become distorted like it is at 14:47?

As far as I know, and I may be completely wrong, That is the normal sound, and it gets distorted as Samus picks up speed. However, going through a door, she isn't accelerating, so the sound stays constant. Just my guess, based on a few other games I've looked into. Haven't gone in depth with this one yet, so I'm not sure.

+XularusXIII The old portable systems barely had any sound channels so some sounds would cancel out others. For example, the ice beam + door opening noise canceled out the other bit of the speed boost charge noise.

At this point, especially if Samus Returns sells well, a remake for Super Metroid is very likely, considering it was considered to be one of the greatest Metroid games and the fact that it was made after Metroid 2, if Nintendo is indeed going in order of Metroid game releases

If you have the item that the boss gives you, it doesn't spawn. learned that the hard way. Need to remove/ disable the item in question before entering the room, like the runner does right before-hand.

I am currently stuck at attempting to load the varia suit boss correctly, as no matter what I do seems to work, the data room always loads itself broken and not secured on either door, instead being normal green door hatches you can open at any time, the next room then has the same effect with the doors and the boss will repeatedly appear only to grant security hatch level 2 access, rather than the varia suit data despite me disabling it long before I enter the door X room ;..;

my only guess is that you changed the event counter, whether intentional or not. try changing that until one works (before you enter both rooms).

Technically, Samus can surpass even the SA-X by the end. She has an Ice Missile upgrade that also releases a cloud of Ice that freezes anything in its radius? On top of an Ice Beam? Said Missiles are upgraded to Super Missiles without needing separate Super Missiles?

One thing I never understood is why the "fully powered" suit is the one with only varia modification. Never we see the gravity mod being shown in the fully powered sequences.
