This was my first Metroid game when I was 10 in 04. At the time I only knew Samus from Smash bros. It quickly became one of my favorite series and subgenre.

Carried on out of pure curiosity, left because of the fear that Ridley, the Chozo Ghosts and the Super Space Pirates gave me, came back for the fun, and here I am... 16 years later... God this game scared the living shit out of me as a kid, playing it two decades later as an adult I can see just how amazing this game is. Honestly it will go down as one of my favorite games of all time. Everything about this game is perfect. Moving on to echoes now that I beat 1 the other day.

Seeing Samus appear from her gunship back in 2002 on a CRT in 60 FPS was a revelation. It was my first game in that console generation. I thought "this is how good games can look today?" It's still looks clean af.

I’ll never forget the first time I played this masterpiece at my uncle’s. I played the game while my uncle acted as a support role with navigation and looking up guides online when lost. I think we got 70% of the game done and the hype that we got from learning the true ending which hinted at a sequel was a once in a life time experience.

Clearly inspired by the intro of the first alien movie. We got the slow left to right pan, a yellow nebula and the planet. Edit: And then a huge spaceship where the story takes place. Second edit: And a female main character who has to deal with creatures that jump at your face and some who spew acid and some who are large and have a lot of sharp teeth and visible bones and the one in Metroid is called meta Ridley while the director of alien is Ridley Scott.

Samus is Drunk in the opening sequence if the Metroid Timeline is to be believed I dunno what the Federations Drinking laws are but going based on the timeline alone and assuming Samus by this point is 21 Then picture this if you would. Be Samus Go on a Drinking Bender End up in the same system as Talon IV Finds a Pirate Distress beacon And be like "Fuck it, I might as well" Fight a mutated Parasite Queen and win And the reason you stand around like an idiot during the explosion Was cause you were so drunk you were going "I need to move but my body won't let me" And the impact from being sent flying is what made you sober up There are a couple other details I left out because actual spoilers. so... yeah, those who've played, you fill in the gaps
