Metrolink F59PHR

F59PHR 868 was temporarily brought back into revenue service on Metrolink trains in mid-2021 as some issues are addressed on the F125 fleet. After thinking we wouldn’t be seeing these once common workhorses out on the mainline anymore after their semi-retirement last summer (relegated to yard and work train service), it was good to get a glimpse of the “good old days” once again.

Wait? Is Metrolink 856 & 868 F59PHI is not retiring?

851, 852, 856, and 868 are now being used as yard switchers while the rest of the F59 fleet has been retired. 856 and 868 were brought out briefly back in revenue service over the summer while an issue with the F125s was addressed. These remaining F59 units will also be retired before too long.
