It's about time some one listened to me and got rid of those bloody poles in the middle of the door ways. Now people in Wheelchairs & people with prams will be able to get on & off the train without crashing into the pole or getting caught in the doors because you have to go so slow.

may be retrofit the older electrics with the same bar work unless they are to be retired and sold off?? the bigger question I got when are we going to see proper lifts across the entirety of the network to where we can have high capacity mobility aids service the lifts All stations need to comply with lift access including mciver I would also voice the opinion of adding diesel electric hybrids within metro services given how flaky the rails cantenary electric grid is.. If we are going to 6 car service models may be consider light rail options.. because at some point we need to consider a universal rolling stock options where we replace the whole inner city bus fleet and do a fleet of mega stations on traditional rail networks with options of running light rail through some city streets and down major freeways, highways and byways of metro areas.. going for low slung cars would likely improve rail services to the bush the stupidity of current entry and exit procedures on country rail makes it dangerous current ramp solution might be okay for wheel chair not suitable for anything with a battery or motor the ramp system carry-on is and was never designed to mobility aids such as gophers and so forth on country .. 2 choices exist.. either modify the platforms completely or go the route or add and regrade the existing infrastructure and placing the rolling stock that can run door systems close to the ground.. this will need to happen if you want to cater for a lot of people on these mobility aids access the entirety of the WA networkmay be also consider this options on the ghan and indian pacific and rail services into vic and QLD
@chopping_board3 жыл бұрын
first of all, that would be extremely disruptive and certainly go over budget requiring you to replace every single station with a low to the ground one, rendering existing rollingstock useless, which isn't feasible based on the fact that the trains are heavy rail and comply to an entrance to the train height standard, going on your plan we wouldnt have any trains for 5-6 years, as that's how long itd take to rebuild every single station and order and then produce more trains
@jasonhowe16973 жыл бұрын
@@chopping_board it might be disruptive in the city however in the country it would likely be a better outcome.. though my point still stands for a complete retro grade approach to put in the new platforms to a new standard they will have to shut down the midland line to install the 4-6 rail network... though at some point we are going to have to deploy the some form of light rail or low rail car network in WA and have it applied to the whole rail network as we can't go to half measures when it comes to delivering transport options for the disabled sector of the service of the community .. there is already going to be a disruption on the rail network with sky railing it to remove level crossings
