the time and consideration to Tone George takes is truly remarkable I dont know of any Amp builder that comes close

Bravo George! Both amps are masterpieces, but the Superplex is the one to get for my tastes. So much warmth, girth, yet clarity.

Thanks a lot for the video George. The differences are very perceptible in this video... I thought that the Super-Plex was the amp for me, but after listening to the upper-mid push on the MetroPlex, I am definitely going for that one asap. Both amps sound gorgeous! Take care!

Great video...have been kicking the idea of taking out a home equity line of credit. Have some repairs that need to be performed. These amps are the reason I am hesitant. Would end up blowing the money on gear! Maybe one day....Cheers.
@hootowl63547 жыл бұрын
These cost so much money. I wonder how they are going to hold their value. If I were buying a Marshall Jubilee, for instance, I would have less concern about that. If money were no concern though, either of these would be on my short list. Love your amps.

Great job on the video! seems like the two amps are like a van halen vs jimi hendrix kinda thing. just by listening i think i dig the fullness/rawness of the super-plex a bit more! but both are super cool amps :)

George, you are a mind-reader! It seems that the Metro can't really get into that clean, open 45/100 territory, so here's the challenge ... can you approximate the Metro gain structure in the Super with a pedal to tighten the middle and add a little compressed gain?
@jetmarshall7 жыл бұрын
Both amps sound killer. I have one of George's 68 Plexi Replica - a monster amp and the Metro and Super go even further. Glad you are carrying on the torch of British Tone, George!

I have owned both of these amps and they are both fantastic. I held onto the Superplex since it was less gainy and more my style.....JTM vintage. I have owned, or own many vintage marshalls and these are every bit as good. I have a few super demos on my page if interested. I am no where near as good as George or Lance....but, hopefully it may be helpful in making a decision on the two....really can't go wrong either way

I own a Super plex, Anyhow i didn't play for around 2 weeks, in that time i bought a different amp Just got it yesterday. I plugged into it and thought Dam nice amp, Played for a while then i decided to plug into the Super Plex.. God dammit What a fucking great piece of work.. I guess while i was playing it day in and day out you kinda get used to it and wonder hmmm is it that good...Well after setting down for 2 weeks and coming back to it, It reconfirmed what a monster it is. I got that smile on my face well playing that only those who have had a great piece of equipment know about.Thanks G. Peace..

@@ThorslundMusic I'm looking to purchase a new amp soon. Can I get a nice clean tone, on it's clean channel, if I have the Gain at 0, and backoff the guitar volume? I'm asking because you own one, they don't have any near me to demo in a store, and I don't know a whole lot about Plexi's. Also, if I were to buy the Metroplex, which 4×12 speaker cabinet is it voiced for? I play blues, classic rock, and 80's hair metal, if that helps any. Love, ABSOLUTELY LOVE GEORGES MODIFIED PLEXI CHANNELS. JUST CONCERNED HOW TRULY CLEAN THE CLEAN CHANNEL CAN GET. THANKS MAN.

I think a two-guitar band with one of each of these amps would sound incredibly good. They sound like their tones would complement each other spectacularly. While they both sound superb, I think I'd probably prefer to play through the Metro-Plex if I had to choose. Maybe the best way to describe the sound of these things is "fuckin' awesome."

OnTheFritz602 I think Jimi would'nt care as long as the amp was loud enough!
@cmcken16 жыл бұрын
Speaking of Jimi, after reading something yesterday, they stated that he was rather carefree with his gear choices. One year, he's got a wall of Marshalls and then, the next gig, he's running dual 15 showman cabs sporting a single Fender Showman head. He used all sorts of shit down to Sound Shitty (Sound City) heads as well. Some of his heads he ran EL34s, while the Fenders sported 6l6s to, some of his modded Superbass heads had been modded to run 6550s for more clarity and way more headroom and well, (laughing) like the chappie below stated, as long as it was loud enough - way more output.

Metroplex is for people that want that tone, like late 70s rock without using pedals. The Superplex I think is more ideal, most guitarists have oodles of pedals and I'd think with all the pedals out there - you can achieve any tone the metroplex makes, as well as the benefit of getting all those rich clean tones.
@hootowl63547 жыл бұрын
I've yet to find a pedal that made a so-so amp sound as good as a great amp. But the difference isn't noticeable in a live show.
@Dagger_3236 жыл бұрын
If you use oodles of pedals then why would you spend this much just to get a clean sound from your amp? The advantage to these amps is that they’re the closest thing around to authentic Plexi tones provided you use the overdrive built in and play them the way Plexis were meant to be played: utilizing your volume knobs.

8. 24 (metro) and 8.25(super) time mark..... Will someone please explain..... I hear more upper MId bite in the Super plex or green led (I think thats the super plex)...... And way more lo mids in the red led (metroplex I think). The metro plex sounds way thicker to me...... Yet he is saying the metro plex has an upper mid spank and the super plex is thick and sludgey....... I feel like I have a pretty good ear..... I can distinguish alot but maybe I don't? Because to me the superplex has more bite through out the whole video and the metroplex sounds fuller....... Is it treble I'm calling upper mids? I'm lost now

You have nailed some killer tones but those amps don't clean up at all. Could also be effected by your pickups. Its not easy to clean up most Les Paul's these days. You have to build them for that.
@ericmacewen62323 жыл бұрын
I own a Metroplex. Inherently it’s got some dirt even with the gain low on 66 mode. That being said, I can get it clean very well just by rolling back my volume knob. If I need it cleaner I use the low input.

How large is the market for these amps? How many guitarists are playing in venues that can accommodate an amp this loud?
@metroampcom7 жыл бұрын
They are only loud if you turn them up. The master volume is as good as you'll find on any amp of any size. So far, we've built over 250 Metro-Plex and over 50 Super-Plex.
