Holy hell, I completely forgot about the Rainforest Cafe. The childhood memories nearly split my skull open...

Thank you so much for sharing these. Ah, memories. My wife still works in that mall and that's where we met, 29 years ago. Thanks for the vintage footage and the memories!

This made me cry… didn’t think nostalgia would hit me this hard… this was my childhood and forgot how awesome it really was… when superstore had a second level and a 1 hr photo film department… i suppose with time, comes change… now I understand why the older folks get upset with change because it’s hard to accept what you were used to before… when times were less stressful

wow! thank you for converting and uploading this footage. I've been looking everywhere for footage of the old foodcourt and rain forrest cafe. Such a throwback!

Finally some quality footage of the peak of Metrotown, thanks so much for filming, converting, and uploading.

The Peak of Metrotown is a good description of this time. Playdium was awesome. I think I was there every weekend in 99-00

They had a deal that after midnight it was like half off. My Dad would take us a few times a year and we'd sleep during the day before we went, so much fun

The mall seemed more exciting back them with themed exhibits and stores. The mall today is huge but stripped of spectacle and is rather boring if not for it's size.

I miss Playdium's fishing game and 10 pin string-based bowling.

Nice! I'm so happy you invested in some hardware to get all of this invaluable footage into a digital format!
@ttonyat5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm happy too because of the much better picture. One problem is that this device (Roxio) doesn't allow pauses when recording. These scenes are on different tapes, different places, and being able to pause recording would make it much easier to attach one scene to the next. I don't know how to attach video files in to oneanother so I had to do it the old fashion way: copy everything to another tape. To reduce quality loss, I used a Super VHS VCR to record all the bits of scenes in Super VHS mode on a Super VHS Tape. And then playing it back into a laptop for one file.

@@ttonyat Yea..it's always difficult to cut video like this when it comes from VHS. The only other thing I could think of would be to maybe use some video editor to individually splice them.

Who t'f wears clothing from the GAP...? They got rid of that for THAT? The new arcade doesn't even have 2 floors like Playdium did...
