Sometimes ya have to give credit to the crosstown rival. Ya know? I’m a diehard Mets fan… certainly kicked around a bit by Yankee fans during the stretch from 1995 to 2010 in particular. But I always thought Joe Torre, Derek Jeter, Mariano, etc were first class human beings and obviously incredible ballplayers. Ironically, I can only hope the Jets take the identical course as the Mets did. But Aaron Rodgers is no Francisco Lindor. I’d love to see the Mets get this game tonight, but they’ve delivered such a great, fun season already. They gave it all they had. If the mighty Dodgers break their backs, I am still 100% grateful for the season they gave us.

As a Yankees fan who lives on Long Island, the Mets are such a great feel good story this year. Starting 28-37, Jorge Lopez (pitcher) being DFA’d after chucking his glove into the crowd at Citi Field. It all changed when Francisco Lindor held a players only meeting in May. Then Grimace threw out the ceremonial first pitch in June, then this song becomes a smash hit. The Yankees and Mets might play each other in the World Series. That would be an absolute blockbuster all around the world. If my grandfather was still alive, he would’ve LOVED to see the incredible show that the Yankees and Mets are putting on. He grew up in NYC during the dark days of the Great Depression in the 1930’s. He saw almost every era of Yankees baseball, he saw the Giants and Dodgers move to California in 1957 and then the Mets becoming a team in 1962. He was a Yankees fan and watched every game. It’s a great time to be a baseball fan in NY after a disastrous 2023 for both teams.
