Good stuff, nice machine! I agree, smaller splits are what 95% of people want!

I like small splits, too- I have a small burner. Most commercially bought wood is too big, lol, and I have to resplit it. This year's batch was humongous! As in 3-4 nice sized pieces in each one. But, that's fine- I like using an axe, and this was some great wood. (red oak, sugar maple, and beech. Top shelf condition, and bone dry!) Best part of a 2-way? very little trash! It's nice that the multi-way wedges size the pieces for you, but they create a lot of waste doing it- especially box wedges.

Everyone also seems to forget that smaller splits dry faster. That is a consideration with oak and other hardwoods that have a long drying time before they are ready to burn.

That's another great point that we forgot to mention!

Smaller pieces burn hotter, dry faster and are easier dealing with if it's going into a wood stove. Furnaces are a different situation and gobble up the wood so longer and bigger chunks are required.

Could a top rail be added to this knife like a “T” to help keep it from twisting and then add the downward wings from it? It then would kinda look like a down facing “E” Great video Bob! I love small splits for my fire pit, they burn hotter and less smoke as you said!

I was just about to comment the same thing because then the knife would have the benefits of the cassette style for support while still being able to act as a 2way wedge for cutting max diameter logs.

I’ve been watch Joe for sometime now and I’m really liking the Japa. Is there any distributors in Canada?

Quebec and Alberta have specific importers, otherwise it is possible for us to help you. Feel free to contact us and we can help provide more information: www.metsamachines.com/contact-us/

Seems like a taller 4 way would be the ticket

How are the weeds that you sprayed
@MetsaMachines Жыл бұрын
Most are still gone, actually some started growing in the rows where the sprayer did not hit. It’s pretty crazy. On that note I need to order some green gobbler for home.

Good thing that guys dont think of is with boiler wood if your wife cant handle it and you end up not being able too she can.I split mine smaller and it also stacks in nicer with smaller splits.

Another good point!

I probably wouldn't have split any of that wood in half. Anything up to 10" diameter I don't even think about splitting. I'm 1 of those problem Aussies :D

Every market, and country, is so different with firewood it’s quite interesting. I would love to visit Australia some day. Thanks for watching!
