The Metzeler Interact Tire series is built for the sport and sport touring rider out there. The Racetec tires are a DOT track-legal tire designed exclusively for racing, the Sportec is built for aggressive street riding and an occasional track day, and the Roadtec is designed for comfort for the long-distance sport touring rider.

The Metzeler M5 are one of the best tires I have ever tried!!! I got them from you guys about 1,250 miles ago, and counting, for sure I will give my final mileage on these great tires!!! Love them, very stable, great grip and won´t deform the carcass, even in Mode-A in a Yamaha R1, when I open it wide (agressive acceleration)...thanks to this video, finally decided to move from PP3 to this Interact M5, there is no turn back again, no Sir!!!

Bought the M5 2 months ago and i love them. I had Michelin Pilot Power 2ct on my 2004 GSXR 600 and they were ok. The M5's are mind blowing. Amazing wet traction, dry stability, they warm up fast, stick like glue and have shown minimal wear after almost 3000 miles in 2 months. I drove them to Sturgis and back from DC and the rain didn't phase them. Will be sticking with these tires from now on.

We have a couple folks on staff here who ride the M5 and they all love them. The big upgrade is the M5 uses 5 zones of varying tension Stainless Steel belting for improved grip and control at every lean angle. Mileage reports vary, but we've seen riders get up to 6000 miles out of a rear tire. ~Ali

The K3 and the M5 are more sport / traction focused tires, which means you won't get the same mileage as you would with something more sport-touring focused. We'd be happy to hear more feedback on the Z8 once you have a few more miles on them. We think you'll be pleased with their extended mileage. ~Ali

It's tough to compete with the PR3, but the closest competitor is the Roadtec Z8. Some independent testing has proved these tires to be very similar in terms of wet and dry traction. I think that either choice would work for your riding conditions. If you know how the PR3's perform on your bike, you might want to stick with those. ~Ali

I have a BMW R1200R (roadster) that came with the z8's. I have to say these are some great tires. normally I'm pretty skeptical about any tire I'm not familiar with but these have seriously surprised me. I ride pretty hard as a daily commuter sense I got of sport bikes but this tire holds up to its description. have had it at decent lean angles no drama at all. in the wet with nothing to worry about. this is really an excellent tire.

I've been running z8 for the last season on my Hawk GT (Bros) after riding Dunlop GPR-a12. Z8 is awesome for the road purposes. You don't need to warm it up, you can go full throttle even on a wet road and cold tires and be sure that you'll get enough grip at any time. But it's quite tricky to ride on it on a track. I was unable to knee down my bike and had some lowsides on z8. Maybe I'm not a good rider, but i was able to do all this stuff on GPR-a12. So i can recommend Z8 for an everyday use, you will find it perfect. If you're going to spend few weekends on a track pushing hard, probably you should choose m5. Definetly I'll try m5 next season on my new vfr800. BTW interract technology makes your tire softer on a big lean angles, so you should keep you normal air pressure when you're going on a track. Otherwise it will become too soft and your bike will become unstable when youre' going close to the edge.

I ride a 2005 SV650 and I have used only Z8's for the past two seasons. It's an amazing tyre. It really sticks on the road when it's wet and dry. I have also ridden it on track and it felt really comfortable and I did not have any lowsides nor the feeling it's going to slip. Deffinitely my tyre of choice.

I use Z8 tires on vfr800. Good grip both dry and wet. Quick warm up and high mileage. I liked this better than the pirelli angel st.

The Metzeler Karoo 3 is a great option if you need a more aggressive off-road tread on a dual-sport tire. If you need something more street oriented, the new Tourance NEXT are the first dual-sport option with a true dual compound construction. -CK

I have just changed from M5s to Z8s on a Kawasaki Z750 S (yes I know it has to be amongst the most boring bikes out there) but the difference in the wet is unbelievably better. The M5s made the bike - that is not renowned for its handling - laughably bad; all over the place in the dry or wet. I’ve done some racing in my past but getting a knee down even on a summer’s day gave the feeling of a fifty fifty chance of getting out of the corner upright! The M8s however are confidence inspiring and that was within 40 miles of wet roads. It felt like a steering damper had been fitted. The bike simply went where I wanted it to go and with grip that didn’t give up. There’s a possibility I just wasn’t pushing the M5s hard enough to get them working properly but if that’s the case: every rider I seen during my daily commutes should not bother with M5s.

We have a staff member who swears by them for his track tire. He states it took one session out on the track to scrub them in. On the street, it would probably be about 50 miles. ~Ali

It is usually not advised to use different brands or different tire types on front and rear. Differences in the profile of the tire can cause handling issues if the front turns in faster than the back, or vice versa. Using the same model tires with different tread life is acceptable, but I wouldn't use different models on the same bike. -CK

The D-Spec tires use multiple zones with differing compounds, allowing the tire to stick better along the edges of the tread, while maintaining longevity at the center for slab riding. Very similar to Michelin's 2CT technology! -CK

Last year I got my XX wearing m5's. On a new bike, coming from a 250 majesty and a 600TT, in about a month I got to the point where I would scrape my boots on the road... that is the level of confidence that both bike and tires bring. I rode on wet too, but I was very careful so I have not pushed things at all (got family at home). Mileage... I think I got somewhere around 7000km's and in about two thousand or so, the back will need replacement. Rode on public roads only and a riding class is waiting for the next weekend, so it will be for the first time on track/small technical one. I am very confident about the grip once the tires are warmed up. So, I do recommend the m5's for sport-touring type of riding/I mean by that, riding sport for long distance :-)

i've gone through almost 10 sets of M5's, after using bridgestones BT-016's. Ridden the ranges in the rain, and where I'm from (australia) the road's aren't exactly great condition. saying that, i'm very happy with the tyres, i was first recommended these tyres by the local riding instructor who is also a Tester for Metzler tyres. I ride a 2009 zx6r. i haven't used the tyres on a track before and i'm not a great rider. I can get my knee down, and i feel confident the tyres will stick at that lean angle.

I now have 6500 klms/4000 miles just starting to get on the wear limiters. I must say I have'nt had any moments on them even in the wet, normally a bit nervous in the wet, they gave me the confidence to push it a lot harder. the front has worn a bit funny but I have been playing with suspension settings and the heavy Ohlins on the 675R does seem to hammer fronts. in some countries the M5 is being used as OEM for the new ZX14R. so if they can hold 1 of the to the gound ! Hard to say, tire tech changes fast! I don't think there is a clear winner this year, as many of these manufacturers are making innovative changes and succeeding with their results. -CK

My Speed Triple came with Metzler Sporttec M3 and I'm now on the second set of Sporttec M3 as I like them. I'm not really an aggressive rider. The M5 wouldn't be necessary for my riding style. My next tires will be M3 again or, as I'm looking more into milage, the Z8 Interact.

I've been running z8's for just shy of a year now. Fair to say they're bloody brilliant! Especially in the wet, but also in the dry. I don't ride the most powerful bike going, only an Aprilia Peg Strada 660, and I don't ride like my hair's on fire, BUT I do ride every day come rain or shine, and these tyres haven't let me down once! Well, until they got an awkward screw through the rear, and I stuck a crappy Bridgestone bt*some-number* on just to get me by until I could afford a new set/rear replacement. Leaning towards getting another z8 for the rear, and leaving the front (since it has plenty of miles left) on, because the alternative is go for a pair of Pilot Road 4's. However, why waste a perfectly good front tyre, might as well hold off on the PR4's until I need a new pair. I always seem to require new tyres just before the winter, which means, come spring - and, certainly, by the time summer swings round in England - they've started to get a little bit square, even with the harder compound down the centre. (That's commuting for you. It's different if you only use your bike for scratching at the weekend, I'm sure.) It's either that or run a balder, squarer, tyre through winter... Which doesn't sound enticing! I'd love to be able to afford a winter set and a summer set. Ohhhh wouldn't it be nice! :(

Just a quick(ish) update. God I wrote a lot there ^ Ended up with a z8 again, and I was pleased as punch, until the bike was stolen 2 months later. Bought an ER6-N which came with Maxxis Diamonds. They are so, so, so shit in comparison, it's almost laughable. Damp days, cold days, wet days, greasy days, Mondays-through-Sundays and they slip and slide like a right bastard at anything over 4.5k revs (this is only a 70hp bike at the crank!) Replaced them with some Pilot 3's asap (just outta curiosity... and 'cause I couldn't afford 4's) which turned out worlds better. Can't say how they compare to z8's since they're on a different, marginally more powerful, bike. Either seems to be great a choice for middleweight bikes, can't wait until I'm not poor so I can buy some Pilot Road 4's!

I have had all of these tyres on my 2011 Speed triple. The K3's were ok but a bit difficult to get up to operating temp riding at legal speeds on cold UK roads also at the first sign of moisture these tyres become very exiciting only lasted 1900 miles changed them for M5's great tyre for road use ... but only lasted 3000 miles Have now changed to the Z8's and so far so good they feel very similar to BT023's which is a good thing, hoping that they will last as well too

The k3 came standard on my speed triple when I bought it. Only used it on the road ( not on track) and took quite a while to warm up under normal road conditions. Cold grip was not great at all, but once warmed up it has all the grip you want. Changed them out after about 3600km's due to the flat spot becoming too big. They would last me longer if there were actually decent twisty roads here but unfortunately there's only straight ones here. Heard lots of good stuff about the k8 and m5.

Just found this tire review after watching some of your other well done reviews and had to subscribe. Now I mounted the 5th tire set of M5´s on my Z1000 since 2010. I like the M5 because you can really feel the improved handling on heavy bikes, much better than the Pilot Power 2c or Diablo Rosso. What I dont like so much, is, that front and rear are nearly always worn out at the same time and on the front tire the edges are worn out first always. Next tires will be Conti Sport Attack 2

Running my first set of M5's on my ZX14, they stand up to the weight of myself & the bike very well, very nice tire to ride on. Was using Michelin Power Pures before & they were quite pressure sensitive and ultimately more suit for lighter bikes in my humble opinion. I'm actually on my 2nd rear M5 to my 1st front, got 5000km out of my 1st rear but got a puncture, had probably 1500km left in it. Think the the front on my bike would just about do 2 rears, might try running a Z8 rear with m5 front.

I run the M5s on my MT09/FZ09. Great tyre and reasonably affordable here in New Zealand. I prefer them for aggressive riding over the Michelin Road Pilot 5s for aggressive riding.

my 2011 Speed Triple came with the k3 great tyre but more suited for the track. put a set of M5's on 675R 3500 klm's ago. the 675R came with Pirelli supercorsa SP again a great tyre but more suited for the track. anyone think of getting the M5's do it ! they are the best rd tyre Ive had, heat up quick and grip wet & dry is fantastic & very stable. & look like the are going to last a lot longer and I do ride them quite hard, I will get them again !

For me the metzeler M5 sportec (the middle tyre in the video) has been a fantastic tyre. I push it on the road used all year round and always keep it at the required pressure. (I check tyre pressures every week). I gives lots of confidence when leaning over and I haven't had any confidence sapping moments ever of a slip etc.

I used Super Corsa on my 1200 monster and start using it on my S1000R 2 months ago I give a try for the M7RR it was a big surprise!!! I raced in 1983 the 6 hour on metzeller and did a excellent job! But the M7RR is fantastic! it stick so good in deep leaning angle ! last longer than Super Corsa! and much much better in rain !!

the interact tires are very good.. i use the M5 and the Z8.. so the break down. lets look at interact tires and a range what dose interact mean..."for people that dont know" the interact dose just what its says.. the tire changes"interact" the contact patch on the road to your riding needs by flexing in the softer zone of the tire allowing bigger contact patch meaning you can get on the gas hard in middle of the bend... the M5 tire this is a nice ride.. the feelback for this tire is great.. its make you feel safe and allows you freely to tip your bike in any way you like.. gripping the road "with what feels like to me teeth" the bike just falls in the the bends nice and easy and so stable..! the feelback lets you know what is going on and as you punch the gas the bike just pulls with aways with total control.. but warm up time takes abit longer "say if you are riding in 20degree it wil take the tire about 15-20min to warm up" in the wet as long as you are smooth they are find. but in the wet push them slowly.. so you build up the feel for the tire. the Z8 i use this tire as my winter tire. the tire warms up real fast and has alot of the same feel as the M5. but it is abit harder rubber. this is the on tire that i had that a -4 in on wet/snowing road that i put my footpeg on the floor they are that good in the wet and cold. they are both good tires and once you get use to the interact tire you will be very happy.. but i would say if you ride in the colder months go for the Z8 and if you dont go for the M5... i hope that i help some poeple out there.. yours john

I remember the 2012 14r had a set of those tires stock out the factory when it came. Think it had them as well for 2013 then the changed it to another tire. Normally I'm a Bridgestone guy, but I'll try a set of the m5 and see how things go with it. For the kind of riding I do, the one on the far left seems more ideal for my riding. Cause I'll never do a track day. If by chance I do decide to get in a track day, I'm sure that tire would do nicely out there. I'm going to try a set on my 2012 10r

I can vouch for the z8's. Cracking tyre! They'll inspire you in the wet like you wouldn't believe, perhaps not as much as the new PR4's, which I'll be trying after the next rear z8 I buy (roughly 2 rears to 1 front), but enough to really instate faith when you're hard on the anchors or cranking it over a little more than you'd usually be comfortable given the conditions. Hope you like 'em, man. Expensive game this tyre buying lark, but when you look at what we ask of them they're really very cheap.

See how they perform cause all the test videos I saw so far, they was running the bike in the wet like crazy and doing more straight line running than anything else. RiDE (I don't know where you're from, but it's a magazine in the UK) went to the PR4 tyre launch, and, apparently, there's a good case for them being the best wet-weather tyre going. Especially under braking. Apart from in an emergency stop situation it's probably not all that relevant, but good to know you've got that safety net, I suppose. Hope the Angels work out for you, man. ScratchN Sniff here in the state of Alabama, it rains a good bit. Not a whole lot, but the sky will come down here and there. The streets will be good then messed up in other areas. Mainly the back roads are messed up. I'll be safe for sure though

I have used Metzelers on my 93 Honda ST 1100 for years. I have seen a new tire company called Pirelli tires. I was told that Metzeler is part of that tire company and that the Pirelli tires are equal if not better then the Metzelers. Any knowledge of this company?

Currently using Sportec M5's on my '08 Fireblade, can't say I'd be more pleased with 'em. We ride every weekend up the mountain roads so there's like a variation of asphalt and cemented roads, and there are bits of wet roads. Grip is incredible no matter what the road condition is. But I need to get a bit more practical, can I use the Roadtec Z8's for sport riding almost like the M5's? I need a bit more mileage. Lol

I was considering buying the Metzler M5 Sportec from your site, but I know it's a tire that was released couple years ago. Are they still producing these tires so that they're fresh in the warehouse or are they new but just stored? I know rubber is an organic material so it decomposes or something like that.

AznMotoDude First, if stored properly (as we do), tires have a very long shelf life. That being said, Metzeler doesn't just make one production run of a tire and then stop. They're continuously producing tires. Now, the M5s will be slowly go away as they're replaced by the newer M7RR design. If you still want M5s, all the M5s we have are new and safe enough for great performance. -DrewZilla

im a big fan of M5 they have help me performed on my KTM duke in track and also touring the Tyre have gone 3 test heavy rain / touring at top speed/ track which made me have more confident 4.5km track did about 2.201st/ 2.18 2nd/ 2.12 3rd/ 2.10 4th-5th M5 neverfail to deliver and this is my 2nd set for metzeler tyre.... llove it but need the review of m7rr

I ride a '15 R1200RT. The bike came with Z8s. From home, I have one mile of gravel to ride before I hit pavement. At the 3500 mile mark, I need to replace the rear tire. The bike was just into the dealer for an oil change and there is 2/32 if tread left at the wear indicator. For being the longest lasting of the Interact line, I submit they didn't last long at all. All 3500 miles were ridden from December 8-March 20, 2015..... in Iowa. Needless to say, given road conditions here, I wasn't able to push the bike as hard as I will from now until fall. The decision was made to replace the set with a set of Bridgestone T30 GTs until the trip to the Tail of the Dragon this summer, at which point another set of Z8s will be reinstalled. Out of 10, the Z8's get a 5 from me for wear. Wet traction: 8 and dry grip: 9. Great tire if you can afford to replace them 3 times a year.

im on a 2016 Gsxr750 i live in an urban city not a whole lot of turns here just a bunch of intersections i just put a 190 roadtec on the back seem good so far just be careful in the turns at first the silicone coating on the tires very slippery try not to get too heavy on the gas entering or exiting the term when the tires brand new my advice find a roundabout with very little traffic and just start leaning break that tire and as soon as possible

The Roadtec 01 is the replacement for the older Z8 design. The Roadtec 01 compound is improved for better wet and dry grip as well as a bit more tire life. I ride a Ducati 900 SSie, mostly touring around the mountains and small trips. I never go to the track, but still I want the best grip even in wet weather. Because when I first hit the mountain roads, I always ride very active and hard around the mountain bends.

If a front M5 and rear Z8 are all you can get in Colombia, I'd go for them. It's better to be on the road than out of commission. Ideally, the same front and rear tires a recommended. However, you have to take what you can get. Ride safely. -Hi-Viz Brian

That's a good question. What kind of performance are you looking for (grip or longevity). I usually run low 30s in my street tires for the best track day performance, depending on the day and the track conditions. If you're a spirited street rider, I'd recommend staying as close to the tire's recommended PSI as possible. -Hi-Viz Brian

Metzeler have another model M3 which is a step down from a M5 but still pretty good. I have M3 front and M5 rear they perform great at track and street. I'd recommend buying them only as a set though, preferably M5 front and rear.

I've ridden only over 100kms now. The tires are wider than the Sport Demons, it feels softer and the grip is significantly better. It lets me lean over the bike much more without having to hang off as much. The edge of the tires stick really well when turning whereas the Pirellis tended to slip a bit. They also felt harder and took longer to warm up. Overall I feel a lot more confident and I'm much more faster now. Hope it helps!

Hi Brian, I run the Q3 on the track at 31 cold (SV650) and have had very good luck with grip and longevity. Last week I went out for a sport touring ride through several mountain ranges with some friends spanning about 2,300 miles. I was on a Buell 1125R running 36 cold front and back for the twisty parts and 42 for the slab stuff. We might or might not have cruised between 90 and 110 for the long straights through the desert with possible stints of 130-160mph for I would say 50 or so miles of it. Many hundreds of miles (600+?) of hard twisties in there. We were all on Q3s with no more than a few hundred miles on them when we departed and all on 750+cc bikes with 60+ pounds of luggage. By the time we got back most of us were on the wear bars and my tire in particular was table topped. Next year we want to run a higher mileage tire, possibly Metzelers. We do need grip though because we kick it up pretty good in the twisties. In the mean time my new Q3s from RZ will be here on Monday. :) Cheers.

I will probably mount those Q3s up tomorrow. Truthfully I don't ride all that often on the street, a couple of days per month for a few hundred miles each time. For most of the riding that I do the Q3 is perfect, and I generally don't wear them out in the middle. :) Thanks for the suggestions. I will run one of those 2 tires for the next trip. I really like the Q3s but I don't like being 700 miles from home and wondering if I am going to show chords by the end of the day. That kind of sucks. Cheers, Jon

They are very similar, but the PP3s have a bigger contact patch on the center line. I would wager that the M5 will deal with rough pavement and moisture better. -CK
