Hello Folks, BMW K1600 GT Rider 110kg with full gear and camelbak water back pack and ride without pillion. On my 3rd set of 01's from Metzeler. Last set changed today. 7033km done with the back tire down to the 'sea' section and about 1mm on the flancs. The front tire is about 0.5mm to the wear indicator in the middle and to the flancs. I always change the set to keep the best handling on the bike. 4789km of the 7033km was done this past summer with top box and side paniers fully loaded. Used two sets of PR4GT but couldn't get past 6500km on the rears and they would slide unexpectedly in the dry when you really got the hammer down in the corners. First set of Metzler Z8's lasted 8500km. Since then I just cannot touch that mileage with either 01's or PR4GT. I found the Z8's did not inspire confidence in the rain as it does not have sufficient water evacuation designed tread. Then in the dry, on another trips in the Alpes, once the tire got hot with all that curved road and hairpins, it slid around, sometimes it surprised me, it was not a progressive slide. The K16 is a sport GT and you can pretty much use it like a sport bike so it destroys tires. I still need to try the Pirelli Angel GT's which give better mileage but not all weather, all riding style better performance. Hence it seems I'm stuck with the 01's. I just think for a touring bike secttion of the market, whatever the manufacturer, they should give us a tire worth 10000km whatever the bike (Goldwing, K16, Harley/Indian heavy custom). How can you go 'on tour' with a tire that can be legally done by 600O to 7000km? At the price they're sold, we should be getting more bang for buck but we're not.

Spent two weeks with the 01 on my R1100S, been very impress with the handling on my daily commute. Coming from the M7RR there is not much this Roadtec 01 can not keep up with. The wet weather grip is excellent. The tire is a bit flatter then the M7RR so it is a much more stable for long straight riding on the Autobahn. If the milage of the tires are in the 6k miles range, I don't think I will ever go back to a Sport Tire in the future. These sport touring tires are getting the performance of a sport tires and the life of of a harder compound tire. I am pretty sure the Pirelli will be updating the sister tire Angle GT to similar technology as the Roadtec 01.

Great grip, they dont require warmup, and when they do give, you have plently of warning. They also make the little-forgiving XJR much more corner friendly. The rear will easily last 3 sesons for me (half a year each), I replace the front after two when it gets too V-shaped. I ride about 8000 km each year.

Hi, I ride a Triumph Speed Triple S 2016. As a big Metzeler fan I changed my OEM Pirelli Tyres for the M7 @ the dealer before I left the dealer. Very happy about it! Now, with the new RoadTec01 I would like to know what your suggestion is about the 2 tyres. I have a sporty riding style but not with my knee on the asphalt. I do more commuting and little trips, no circuit. I don't know the mileage of the M7 but I have 4000km now and i see that the middle starts to go, i think another 500km maybe and it will be enough. So that's why I was thinking about the RoadTec01 because 4000km with the M7...maybe I need the RoadTec01 for more mileage but what about the grip when i ride hard then... I wanted your opinion. Can i mount the Roadtec01 on the back wheel and continue riding my M7 @ the front without problems? Cause they told me that's not a good idea to mix tyres on a bike and certainly with the M7... Thank you for your feedback.

There's a good chance you could almost double your tire life by going to the Roadtec 01s, and they have plenty of edge grip even with spirited riding. However, I would not recommend mixing the M7 front with a Roadtec rear. It's best to go with the Roadtec 01 for both front and rear. -DrewZilla

Looking at getting a new set of tires for my K75. There aren't that many options but of my top 3 contenders 2 are Metzelers: Roadtec 01 & Sportec Klassic. Totally different pattern and didn't see much for reviews on the Sportec Klassic. Can you highlight reasons to choose one over the other? I ride year round in the DC area (read: rain and snow before it ices) - mostly in town with roughed up roads from all the construction that happens here - the most concerning when the grooves alter the aim of your bike (fortunately I can avoid those roads for the most part). We also get sand and gravel in occasional corners, and other debris. My first priority is safety with the rain and variable surfaces. Because I stay in town I am not as pressed about getting the most mileage out of the tires. Of course I'd like to take it on the highway and trust the tires aren't going to crumble but I wouldn't expect that out of any quality tire in this price bracket. The other contender in my search has been the Avon Roadriders. Any way you can share on these 3 tires would be appreciated. Thank you for the content and the role you have in supporting the motorcycle community. I look forward to your response.

If the Roadtecs are available in your sizes, I'd go towards them over the Klassiks. The Avon Roadriders are decent but not amazing. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/metzeler-roadtec-01-tires

Thank you Drew @@@RevZilla . That was the information I was looking for. While I hadn't heard from you I went ahead and ordered the the Roadtec 01's and was excited to see how quickly they made it to my door. Thanks again RevZilla! Now looking forward to getting them set up on my bike.

Thanks for all the awesome videos. I have a funny question. When you start you always say "this is Lemmy, KJDSHFAKJFASrevzilla". What's that part I don't get!? :D

He says, "Howdy, this Lemmy with RevZilla, here to talk to you today about the Metzeler Roadtec Tires." Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

It's similar to Anthony: "Heeeeeeeeey this is Anthony WITHREVZILLAWHEREYOUCANWATCHDESIDE... and ride." I guess after a billion videos per year, it evolves into noises instead of words.

How do they compare to the Angel GT's? Thanks a lot
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
These are a newer design and may be marginally better than the Angel GTs. The Roadtec 01s have a slightly rounder U-shaped profile for more linear turn-in compared to the more V-shaped profile of the Angel GTs. When British magazine MCN recently tested the current group of sport touring tires, they liked these Roadtec 01s the most. -DrewZilla

The fact that Roadtec 01 (debuted in 2016) is newer than Angel GTs (debuted in... 2014 I guess?) actually convinced me to get Metzeler's pair of shoes. Though I really-really liked Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 1st gen, even on dusty, mudy, potholy and wetty* russian roads, they also kept well in low temp, like -4 C.

Rustam Khasanov How are you finding the Metzelers?
@Asperaetastra7 жыл бұрын
Hey! I haven't put them on yet. Planning to do so in a month or so. Keeping them new for long and harsh roadtrip to Moscow and St. Petersburg. If I'll stay alive - I'll let you know my opinion ;D

Rustam Khasanov XD well I hope you live to tell the tale. Enjoy your road trip.

Anyone here ever used Shinko tyres? God help you!

This is the worst tire set I’ve owned. The wear on the tire pattern is horrible, causing a high pitch noise off center patch with low mileage on them. Not doing this again.

So you give us a review but you haven't tried them out yet? Come on guys, that's lame. Next time give us a review afterwards.

be ware! The front tire is made in China, while the rear is still made in Germany .. very disappointing.
@Asperaetastra7 жыл бұрын
Not like I do care about "where", but both of mine made in Germany. Just got a set from a local dealer, delivered yesterday. Samara, Russian Federation.
@Sams9117 жыл бұрын
lucky you, here in the USA the front is made in China, checked with several owners. And it matters because the Chinese give a rats ass about quality control.
@Asperaetastra7 жыл бұрын
Well I dont know.... is there like that huge difference?
@Sams9117 жыл бұрын
kind of hard to know by just looking... tire manufacturing ohs a complex process... Let me ask you a simple question, would you want your Rolex made in China or Switzerland? your BMW made in Germany or Chia? your Fender guitar made in the USA or China? If it doesn't matter to you, then you'll never understand my point... if it does, then you can see why I don't want my german tires for my german bike made in goddam china!

SJ PLEASE NOTE The origin of your Metzelers is totally dependant on which factory your importer uses. The fronts and rears are made in both Metzeler factories located in Germany and China. Here in OZ we have two importers with one using China and the other from Germany so check with your dealer if you are concerned. Here in OZ we havent notice any diference between the two. Have a nice Day from the land of OZ

+Antares lol dude Pirelli Metzler Dunlop, at the moment as I said Pirelli is getting rid of there last stock of st so there selling them really cheap at Moto superstore... Metzler z6 also for a set 214.00 ST 200.00 and the GT's are 300.00 so LOL marketing can make anything sound different... the ST and The GT are the same tire minor difference very minor both use to types of rubber they changed the treat pattern a tad and say they last 1000 miles more. I ride a lot in the rain look at my video no chicken strips and hard riding
