@@The.JZA.how are the Metzelers in lower temps (5 celsius / 40 fahrenheit)? Did you like them on wet roads?
@The.JZA.11 күн бұрын
@ It's been summer here in the southern hemisphere so I haven't tried them in cold temps yet. I have only ridden them in the wet once and they felt fine. I wasn't going as fast as I would in the dry just because I was being cautious but the tyres didn't skip a beat. I will note that the rear tyre seems to be wearing quite quickly in the middle. I still have a lot of tread left but it seems like it's a lot less than I started with already and I have only done maybe 3,000km on them so far. The rear tyre also has a vert strange profile. It has a really wide flat spot through the middle and then steepens up quickly to the sides. It felt a bit odd when I first got the tyre but I quickly got used to it. Overall I am happy with these tyres. A lot more confidence inspiring than the stock tyres for my bike but I haven't ridden them in a direct comparison to the Road 6 so I can't say which is better overall. I would buy these tyres again, so long as the rear tyre holds out until at least 10,000km. I was hoping for even more like 15,000km but I dunno if I will get there.

@@The.JZA. Thanks for the detailed response! 3,000km seems a bit quick for visible wear, at least for a tire in Road 6 / Roadsmart 4 league

This great video review and demonstration was just about enough for me! I am rolling with Dunlops on my 2022 Honda CMX1100 Rebel now and overall they feel pretty basic. Optimal performance and safety are key for me on long rides and sportier daily jaunts around my location. I will definitely research these tires a little further, but for now I’m sold!! 👍🏾

Great review. I went from the Metzler M9rr on the back of my VFR to the Roadtec 2 and you are right the tip in is slower but after a couple of rides I got the hang of it. to it. Metzler have a 6 way comparo with the 01 SE. What I want is the same diagram versus the M9rr. Trying to decide on the front. Another M9rr or go the Roadtec 02.

I'm glad the conditions were bad as it's been my experience that less than 50°F wet conditions tells you a lot about how the tires will perform at lower temps too, whether wet or dry. I'm willing to trade some 90°+ dry performance if I'm not on a knife's edge with traction when it's not so nice out. Still, the Michelin Roads have always been the tires to beat for inclement weather, in my experience, though I prefer their sport rubber on the front for the improved feel and straight line braking. Probably won't try these unless they do well in the Motorrad tests though.

Fantastic review 10/10. "Inspired by the Isle of Man" is kind of BS though. The only thing these tires have in common with the "Isle of Man race" tires, is the fact that they're round and made partially out of rubber. You'll never see the racers in Isle of Man use sport-touring tires of Any kind.. They could be inspired by the island itself, of course. But that wouldn't make much sense.

I'm using Metzler Interact R8 tires on my BMW 1100rt. How do Roadtec 02 tires compare ? I'm disappointed with the R8 front tire. The left side of the tire shows a lot of cupping. I've got a new R8 to replace it with. Would the Roadtec make for a better choice for my bike? Mostly, I enjoy touring and joy riding the twisties. I'm an old guy. So, I'm not taking corners at extreme lean angles. Thanks!!

Interesting vid Troy. Would you recommend these Roadtec 02's for the GSX8R for quick road riding? Also considering Michelin Pilot 6's & Bridgestone S23 's as well but not sure what to go for. I really like the S23's from previous experience on another bike but heard really good things about the Pilot 6's & these interest me too.

Nice review. Thank you. I know it’s difficult to draw any comparisons without being able to compare different brands in like for like conditions. However, as the majority will go with the Road 6’s by default (they just look more suitable), what would be your guess if you had to choose now that you’ve experienced these? As an ex Australian Superbike racer, I know that when I changed teams, that were also sponsored by a different tyre manufacturer, that it did take a short amount of time to get used to their full wets and slick tyres.

Arguably the benchmark for this category. However, these do look more aggressive and if you can build the heat in the front quicker than even in wet conditions these still should be ok. I’ll be reserving my opinion until I get a chance to at least test these as on paper the do offer slightly different science behind the design. My road 6’s are just about due for replacement on one of my bikes.
