Spoke to BMW rider on the ferry home who needed a replace tyre while in France. His experience with the BMW dealer echoed yours, not very helpful. Fortunately a customer gave up his service spot so they could fit his new tyre..nice to know bikers still look out for each other 👍

Really enjoyed watching that, thanks Mark. I recently got a grand total of 461 miles out of a rear Mitas e09 on my weeStröm before the centre nobbles completely tore off on the dual carriageway. Granted they are 80/20 off/on road tyres but.... Apparently they are very sensitive to slight variations in tyre pressure. Lesson learnt. I'll get the Dakars for next years ABR festival lol. Hope you get a good innings out of your new Metzies! I've got just 6000 miles on my A40's atm and loads of tread left for now. ✌

Had my own problem on the recent Italy tour. Second day traveling from France into Germany and got a rear puncture (Road 5). Repaired the puncture and said to myself and the tour guides "No problem, we're in Germany home of BMW Motorrad and the best-selling bike the GS"... We spent three hours at different BMW dealerships and garages but could not get a replacement tyre. So, onto Italy where our hotel owner told us about a gargage that could help me just 10 minutes down the road. Got there and he fitted a Road Six (same as the front) for 250 euros. Job done, but i was surprised about BMW Motorrad in Germany not having a tyre in stock. Side note - Don't you just admire those crazy cyclists that go up those mountains in Switzerland in 30c+ weather?

Just returned and Sustan was closed due an avalanche of rocks, BTW i find my Metzler's v noisey on the straight they go quiet when leaned over

I’ll be interested to see what you think longer term. I’m picking up an new Tiger 900 next month which I believe has these on as standard and looking at the Triumph forums they aren’t well liked and don’t inspire confidence. A lot of folks seem to change them well before they wear out as a result. Anyway, glad you’ve sorted your problem and enjoy the rest of the tour.

I have a Tiger 900 GTP and hated the stock Metzelers. Swapped them to Continental TrailAttacks and it changed the handling for the better. Check out Fortnine’s video where he states that OEM tyres aren’t always the same as the after market tyres. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqecaJyVYrtqnqM

Thanks Danny, I’ll take a look. Mark tried Dunlop Trailmax Meridians and was impressed by them too so that’s another option. Not sure what the insurance cos think of changing from 100 to 110 profiles but a lot of people seem to do that and go to Road 5 or 6’s.

Currently have Bridgestone A41s on my vstrom 1000 , be very interested in your thoughts on how the tourance next 2 compare with Dunlop's meridian tyres as not sure which to go for next

My next set will be Dunlop Mutants. Not sure if they do Meridian’s for your size front tyre unless it’s a 21”. Ride safe
