This song. It’s my heart. I remember discovering MEW when I was 15 on MYSpace and I would listen to them over and over and over. I’m 31 now. Been lucky enough to see them I think 3times now when they finally came back to the states. I was front row bawling to this song and Jonas hugged me and the girl next to me once the song was over. It was a magical moment. Hearing this on orchestra is fucking out of this world. So moving.

And I am 60 years old now - next week, by the way, and I have followed MEW since their intro/debut about 2006/2007 and I will follow them for the rest of my life. They remind me about the Genesis-days with Peter Gabriel on vocal in the seventhies and the Yes-day with Jan Anderson on vocal also in the seventhies... Progressiv rock-music belongs to my heart as long it is beating.. * MiChAeL * here from Denmark

My favourite song. The vocal melodies, the chord progression and the themes of the lyrics raise this to masterpiece level. It doesn't matter if it's played by an orchestra or 5 people, it always sounds grand. This song never fails to make me both sad and elated simultaneously. And this version is beautiful

While the original brought out a sense of "desperation" and "breaking down" with the use of electric guitar, but this, this performance made me feel some sort of "acceptance". "Acceptance" over whatever madness is inside my own head that couldn't be soothed by anyone. Truly a wonderful collaboration.

The irony of this song... In a period of time when face tattoos and auto tune rule the charts, true art like this slips under the radar. To me though, it makes it that much more beautiful. Mew has been my favorite band for over a decade and I’ve always felt like it was this precious jewel that was mine. I truly love these guys like family and live half a world away. That’s when you know something is special. No pun intended...

I don't feel alright In spite of these comforting sounds You make I don't feel alright Because you make promises That you break Into your house Why don't we share our solitude? Nothing is pure anymore but solitude It's hard to make sense Feels as if I'm sensing you Through a lens If someone else comes I'll just sit here listening to the drums Previously I never called it solitude And probably you know All the dirty shows I've put on Blunted and exhausted like anyone Honestly I tried to avoid it Honestly Back when we were kids, we would always know when to stop And now all the good kids are Messing up Nobody has gained or Accomplished anything

Beautiful version of this masterpiece. I do like the original version better as it has more dynamics due to the guitars. But this has it's own beauty just in the very moment at 4:26 when Jonas is enjoying the grand sound from the Phil performing 'their tune' - as if he is that close to dancing on stage.

Oooof! As an old fan I hate saying this, but that was an awkward and missed opportunity. I truly didn't like the musical arrangement. I wish I could have like it, but I didn't. It feels like almost all strengths of the song was stripped away for the sake of the orchestra, rather than trying to intergrating them with the band.

autotune
@jerometenorio72215 жыл бұрын
Autotune is only bad for singers that has music which only about vocals. For example, Demi Lovato is a bad singer because she used autotune which renders her capabilities to sing higher notes. Mew is a band and vocals does not matter to a band anymore these days. What matters to them is a good music composition. For Mew, music is art.
