The song starts off so discordant and chaotic with all of the stray notes in the guitar and bass, but it gradually pulls itself together. It never quite becomes a perfectly comfortable melody, but the chorus has a slight pop sensibility that adds a bit of satisfaction where it is needed most. It's such a strange feeling to listen to, a satisfaction that is delivered 90% but leaving you wanting more. I really, really like this song.

This is why I love this album. I was mind blown by its sound the first couple of times I listen to it... its such a fascinanting album. Mew is one of the best bands to come from the nordic countries (although Sigur Ros and Kent are up there too ). I love their unique riffs, beautiful melodies and their rythmic creativity while still maintaining instant catchiness in their songs. I think how they treat rythms (quirky beats and tiny details to keep the beat more surprising) sets them apart from their contemporaries who are more straight forward.

i know the intro can sound like its in an odd timing but i promises you its in 4/4 me and my drummer dissected it. the guitar and bass drum come in on the and of 1 for the first measure then just the one on the second measure then leave that pause when it repeats the third measure landing on the and of one again. they really set this up to sound like its odd with the guitars curt sliding and random bass drum hits but its just 4/4 absolutely amazing piece. one of my all time favorites.
