A few years ago this song played on the radio late at night on Christmas as me and my sister drove home from our family. The DJ obviously didn't know what this song was or was about when he announced it. After the song there was a 30 second pause of dead air and then a resuming of Christmas music. I can only assume that DJ was fired.

This song brings me back to a memory I had with my ex. I know the lyrics talk about something else, but I remember listening to this song because my ex showed me some of Mew's music, and the music video spoke to me. the events that happened, like when the witch struck the bear with a ball of light and killed him, and he disappeared. I dated this guy who was five years older than me who had a child and was living with his grandmother. I thought he would be my everything until this girl he met at a show (he went to without me) came into his life. I knew they were into each other while we were dating and have spoken out about it multiple times but he shrugged me off as just being jealous. A day after we officially broke up, she posted a picture of her in his room in one of his T-shirts. This song has helped me through this terrible time, I was living in misery trying the hardest not to end my life because of how filthy I felt for being with this pothead of a guy. I realize now, at 24, how fucking foolish I was for falling for this guy who was weak-minded, selfish, lacked self-discipline, and lacked a sense of character, and now I can safely say I am just glad he's not in my life and that I found someone way better. So I guess I can say, thanks Mew for getting me through this fucked up time.

KHERIN: My interpretation is that it's about two siblings who are on their way home for christmas, their father who suddenly left them has now come back, and the sister starts to remember how she was sexually abused as a child, but she was blindfolded so she couldn't tell who it was. The brother doesn't remember any of this and says it couldn't have been him, and realizes that it must've been their father. He's distrought, but knows that if that's what happened, he has to side with his sister. The repetition of "Don't touch her there" and "He watched her. She knew his look from behind." confirms that was the case. bpagan: I live in the USA and I have NEVER ran into anyone who has even heard of MEW let alone listened. THEIR LOSS FOR SURE!
