They blasted banda and quebradita music. They blasted car horns. They blasted backfire explosions from vehicles doing burnouts. They even blasted fireworks into the air!!! The Grito parades were cancelled due to the pandemic, so even though some of that celebratory stuff the Chicago's Mexicans did was disorderly or unacceptable, they had no choice but to party in honor of Mexican independence still. They needed to party to the extreme as an act of revenge for being in prison with those COVID stay-at-home orders.
