@@staytruealways207 I don't think so. I'm a foodie and like to absorb every aspect of the meal I'm excited to eat. The smell, the taste on my palate, swallowing it..I just love to take it all in and assess everything together. My mom didn't like I did that though but I think it's a cultural myth that smelling food is like saying the food looks nasty, whereas smelling actually begins the process of enjoying the meal.

They screwed up the ancestral Afro-Centric American soul food also. People think that they can just fry chicken in any manner or make a batch of macaroni with a pot of underflavored greens and call it soul food. The way in which the herbs and spices are introduced and the passion of the preparation including a few inside secrets that only grandma could teach you is what made it soul food. It's called ancestral love and the music playing or the song being hummed while the food is being prepared is the ancestral heartbeat. It's been decades since I have tasted real soul food.

Yayyyy Ive ben waiting for them to try African food! Rhank you! Im a Black American and felt like Jollof was a spicier and tad bit more flavorful Spanih rice! I told my Latina friend thisn when I first tried it that it tadtes just like it! Egusi is good but idk if its the texture I cant get with or what. But I love West African food. I think its so crazy how alot of African and Caribbean foods have similarities with Latin foods.

West African cuisine uses a lot of spices, herbs, and plant-foods that are endemic to the region, were domesticated there, and aren’t found anywhere else in the world, whereas a lot of other cuisines had more of these exchanged throughout long-distance trade.

@@kelechialozie3522 Then of course there are plenty of plants which have a broad distribution across tropical regions of the world due to having seeds that float and such. But being in an area with so many seasoning plants just found naturally there makes it convenient.

The first mum put real effort into her analysis… and her analysis of the pepper soup is 💯 accurate! The third mum was also very bold with her tasting! And gave her honest opinion, almost like the first, sometimes even better! The second mum also did do well, but she wasn’t very forward in her tasting! She’d rather just a pinch before daring to do more! All in all, 1st and 3rd mum gave a more accurate description of their taste and preferences! Weldone Mamas!
