The melody of Ehecatl sounds like Ehecatl by Xavier Quijas Yxayotl. There were a few differences in the instruments and other parts of the song, but it definitely sounded similar. Anyways, this was a great performance to watch. Also, R.I.P. Xavier.

We will pass the comment along to Garcia, but the rhythm of EHECATL has been around since the 1970's, the only commonality is that both melodies are based on the rhythm which was originated Florencio Yescas and continues to be danced throughout the Americas. There are 4 other individuals/ensembles who have been consistently recording and using these instruments since 1980 thru the present ANTONIO ZEPEDA, LUIS PEREZ IXONEZTLI, GRUPO TRIBU MUSICA, and JORGE REYES (R.I.P.) each of the artists listed above are still playing and going strong and still based in Mexico. except for Jorge Reyes, and TRIBU just celebrated their 50th year as an ensemble in 2023 There are at least 120 recordings they have made that we are aware of since 1980. indigenousinstrumentsofmexicomesoamerica.weebly.com/indigenous-musicians.html XAVIER QUIJAS did not record until 2002, some 20 years after everyone else, and whereas Quijas only played within traditional settings, Garcia has been writing music for indigenous instruments and European instruments in traditional and contemporary settings since 2005 with concerts in 28 countries on 5 continents as well as performing many times with LUIS PEREZ IXONEZTLI , RAMIRO RAMIREZ DUARTE, and XOCHICUICATL, FLOWERSONGSMUSIC for the last few years. go to his site below christophergarciamusic.com and click on INDIGENA PROJECTS for additional information on his work Robert @ LiraARtistsManagement@gmail.com
