First, I want to congratulate you on a great video. A shout-out and thank you to your friend for happily participating in it and getting his reactions, too. Thank you for the friendly and sweet narration style; the energy makes it across the screen. I'm now going to respond to a couple of questions you had and provide interesting facts for your general knowledge (some you may already know, but it’s also for viewers). I will give you some personal recommendations where you MUST eat and visit: Answer to Your Questions 1. The Native Americans you see in El Zocalo (The Main Square) are performing cleansing rituals. While the majority of Mexicans are Catholic, many still believe in and hold on to the belief of cleanses and blessings. The Native Americans can perform different cleanses and/or a ritual to bless you. 2. The red sauce you wanted in the Mango is called “Chamoy,” and the spices they sprinkle on it are usually “Tajin” (pronounced as Tah-Heen). Interesting Facts 1. Mexico City was built on a lake. This was done by the Europeans (the Spaniards). The conquistador was adamant that he wanted the capital city of New Spain to be where Mexico City is now. He destroyed the pyramids of the Native American tribe living there (the Mexicas, aka Aztecs) and used most of that rock to build much of the beautiful baroque architecture that you see in Mexico City. 2. Mexico City was called Tenochtitlan by the Aztecs, and various European writings described it as “stunning and clean,” “beautiful,” and “well organized.” It was compared to Venice, Italy. Before the Spaniards filled the lake with soil and concrete, Mexico City used to be comprised of human-made islands called Chinampas, and millions of Axolotls lived there. The Aztecs were known for their great agricultural methods and techniques. They were known to bathe several times a day, which Europeans thought was insane because, at the time, Europeans thought you could get sick from water. 3. Mexico City is the only city in North America to have a real castle called Castillo de Chapultepec (Casa Loma is not a castle; it’s a mansion built in the style of a castle). What makes it a real castle? Well, royalty lived in the Chapultepec castle. 4. Mexico City is the “original” NYC. It was the financial district of the old Western world. Historical Mexico City is the closest city we have in North America to resemble 19th-century Paris, France. As you may have already seen, a great portion of Mexico City is covered with thousands of Spanish and French colonial buildings of baroque, art nouveau, and some gothic-style influenced architectural buildings. Once upon a time, the Paseo Reforma avenue, which is now the avenue that hosts modern skyscrapers, near the Angel of Independence, used to be showered in French-style mansions, but most of these were destroyed to make room for modernization (super sad if you ask me). 5. The Angel of Independence is a majestic and stunning monument in Mexico City. It’s on Paseo Reforma Avenue, and it’s made of gold. 6. Mexico City is sinking, and it’s sinking at ~ 9 inches a year. Recommendations to Visit: 1. You must see El Zocalo (you have already done so). 2. You must see the Angel of Independence. 3. You must see the Chapultepec Castle and the view from its terrace facing Paseo Reforma; it’s beautiful. Recommendation of Must Have Tacos: 1. El Hidalguense (Just Google map it): The address is Campeche 155, Roma Sur, CDMX. Try the Barbacoa tacos in the blue tortilla; you two can thank me later. People adore it. 2. Taqueria Los Parados, the address is like Monterrey 333, Roma Sur, CDMX - try the Costilla and cheese tacos. 3. Los Panchos Restaurant is located at Tolstoi 9, Anzures, Miguel Hidalgo, CDMX. Try the Carnitas tacos. 4. Los Machetes de la Guerrero, the address is Lerdo 186, Guerrero, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX - If you have never had machetes, you MUST try it. They are beyond long and huge. I’d be surprised if you or your friend could eat it all. Don’t eat before coming here, lol.

@@Alejandra-xg3wo Yeah, you can find some videos and pictures online if they are something that you find fascinating. I am not even Mexican, but I am obsessed with Mexico City, even more so because it is still somewhat underrated compared to cities like NYC, Paris, London, Barcelona, etc. It doesn't get the recognition it deserves. While you're at it, you should also have a look at the blueprints of what El Monumento a la Revolucion was meant to be -- a parliament -- and not just any parliament; it would have been the world's largest parliament. Unfortunately (to lovers of traditional European architecture like me), this did not take place due to the Mexican Revolution, thus, that project, among hundreds of more, got cancelled in Mexico City. Now, whenever you see El Monumento a la Revolucion, you can close your eyes and only dream of the piece of gem that Mexico City would have had. Don't get me wrong, I still think that what Mexico City currently has in terms of European architecture is still precious and substantial. However, had the revolution not happened, Mexico City would have been the diamond city of North America (again, in the context of traditional architecture).
