Try living in NYC and paying rent in a one bedroom apartment...paying my on heat and electric and food cost...I cook my own food at home 90% of the time so I save more than eating out...in NY there is help that you can get on your heat and electricity...depending on your income.I think living in Mexico or any Country as a single person with no Children you should be able to live fairly decent with a min of 2,500 a month and I'm talking to live stress free and incase their is something that might come up unexpected ...I would say more is always better if you have it...I think most people expensenses come from their living expense...if you can come with money to buy...that would be your best bet...not everyone have the ability but You will save alot of money...especially if you have solar panels...I'm speaking for a single person not for a family of 3 or 4 in the home...I'm not moving anywhere unless I know that I can bring in a min of 2,500 a month and also have some savings...you shouldn't have a savings less than 5,000 dollars...I've seen people that have made it on less than that but I wouldn't do it...I don't want to have to scrape and beg for anything or from anyone...I want to be comfortable

It depends what it is. Services and food are generally cheaper (although shopping at Soriana doesn't seem so much cheaper than, say, ALDI in the US). Electronics, cars or anything imported from the US is going to be slightly more expensive in Mexico due to transport costs and the higher sales tax (16%). I love Mexico too. Good people there.
@davidsebastianelli1326

@@MrSgtauI shop at Soriano quite a bit only because it stays open later and it's a closer walk than the tienda near me and I'm not spending money on new cars or electronic goods every month. Besides everyone knows that much and shouldn't be used as a deal breaker for not moving to Mexico. BTW Soriano is much more affordable than Aldi. At Soriano on what I would spend $300 for in the US I am able to purchase the same things for around $200 just by opting for the Mexican brands over the US brands. Also a lot of the US brands are produced in Mexico! Avocados were on sale last month at around $0.24 each! Buena suerte!

No, it's actually more expensive now. Where I live, people go to Texas now to do their daily shopping because of how strong the peso has become. They have more to spend and it's driving up the prices like crazy. Housing in McAllen, along with the cost of food and other daily expenses, is less than a suburb in Monterrey, for example... just a couple hours across the border.

Love your channel, haven’t been traveling much lately tho.. 😅. Just FYI.. I also live in Querétaro and is suuuper nice and safe here and as such it’s one of the most expensive cities to live in Mexico. On top of that I believe you guys live in one of the higher-end neighborhoods.. so most services, restaurants, etc. in the area are also on the higher-end. Also most of these stores in the area sell “usa” products $$$. The good thing is theres a lotttt of options.. less cost, less quality tho 😮. another issue is the big construction going on.. some establishments have struggled and passed on the cost. None the less IT IS getting more expensive… There sooo much demand here for everything… property, goods, services, etc. (Gentrification?) Have you been to CostCo lately, it’s crazy! 🥔🥔

Mi consejo humilde: Put your health insurance $ into high quality real food(no ultra-processed "food"), pharmaceuticals, banish sugar and wheat products and alcohol from your diets and you'll be fine(and save $). PS. Get rid of the car....no need in Querétaro. They're such a huge expense! Think about shifting to ebikes! PPS. Jeez, you're giving boomer here lots of ammo: Wash that car by hand!!! Don't use a dryer in Mexico! Hang it up. I don't even use it here in central NY :) Eat more street food, less expensive restaurants. Watering grass? Unless it's got THC, stop doing that!!!! Xeriscaping is the way! Cleaning supplies? Dish soap, white vinegar and baking soda are all you need. Jeez, here in NY I don't spend anywhere close to $150/month on clothing. Find the ropa americana (thrift)shops. Dog grooming???! (I guess that's why we have 2 cats lol. Looks like it's time to put a solid hold on eating out. Never buy snacks or beverages at the movies. If my memory serves me, I'm pretty sure your house is rather on the large side. Downsizing saves un chingón de plata! At any rate: SIMPLIFY, downsize and don't try to keep up with the Garcías :)

Okay, cost of living in the US just can’t be blamed for this as so many are saying. For example, the cost of his internet is $10 cheaper than my internet. My phone bill for 5 users for AT&T with service in Canada and Mexico which comes with MAX is about $200. So my point is Mexican companies and business are pricing near matching the US…I’m shocked by the price of gas when I cross the border in San Diego and visit Rosarito, etc. I have no idea how average Mexicans manage…even at Walmart and Costco. I will say at least rent is a lot less than across the border, but even that is rising…and they are blaming ppl living in Mexico and working in US…but the numbers don’t add up for how many ppl do it. It’s just greed and ppl jacking up prices on perceived demand. I’m not knocking capitalism in Mexico, but ppl need to stop blaming the US for everything. Those folks in Mexico want to make money and then ppl are blaming…Oooh it’s those gringos paying the prices. Nah brah…I talk with a lot of locals…they are feeling the cost as well. When the US dollar increases, and believe me, it will over this year, it will negatively impact locals, because those vendors aren’t going to drop prices.

These operations are underway in over 50 countries according to the World Meteorological Organization, with Mexico’s Air Force publicly announcing that they were beginning cloud seeding back in 2020, and the US claims to be “developing the method” which in gov speak means “currently experimenting for long term outcomes”. You can perform a simple search: “which US states use cloud seeding” and you will find a list of states that use it. Declassified docs reveal that the US used this tech in Vietnam (Operation Popeye) and in 1977 an international treaty was created that banned the use of weather modification in warfare. I know people that went to some little place about 2 hours south of Porto Vallarta and stayed 6 month. This year 6 weeks. Once you are over age 70. Insurance becomes more expensive . We travelled for a few years but never without medical insurance and twice we needed . A trip to Thailand and a hospital stay of 3 weeks plus an early flight home with a flight nurse $ 200 000.00 Cnd. So the at the time $3000.00 CND was a good investment. Of course now been a few years older cost $8000.00 Cnd . You also have to take in account for your partner to stay at a place while the other person is in the hospital. Especially if it is a long stay. I know I lived true it. Things can happen in an instant. My advice never go on a tide budget.

Many people who have health insurance in the US go to Mexico for healthcare because it's less expensive. Most plans I've seen pay 70 percent of costs. In addition, there are high deductibles. Whenever an emergency arises, you will end up paying a lot of money. Healthcare debt is one of the major reasons for bankruptcy in the US. Nowadays, hospitals are putting liens on patients' houses who have not paid their hospital bills. Another high insurance is for your automobile. I've heard of people paying $300-400 a month. The payments for a new car can be as much as a mortgage payment. If you live in a wealthy area, the prices are gonna be higher. Why would anyone pay $5-10 for a Starbucks cup of coffee when you can get it somewhere else for $1? You can pay $7 or $10 for a burrito at certain establishments but can get it somewhere else for $2. Same quality. I've seen past videos where Jordan pays as much as in the US, or more, because of the location. I think Mexico is still cheaper, and you can have a good quality of life.

I am a Costa Rican native who lived in Houston, Texas for the last 15 years. I've decided to moved to QRO 18 months ago, and if I compare Houston and Costa Rica, I have a much higher quality of life for less money here in QRO. This is a one of the most beautiful cities that Mexico has to offer, so I think it is worth the price. I just came back from Texas a week ago, and I can assure you the prices there are high for everything! Also, when I go to Costa Rica, I feel like I have a hole in my wallet and money escapes from me! LOL As a matter of fact, people from Costa Rica vacation in Mexico because it is more affordable than staying locally.. -- This is just my experience and humble opinion! Happy New Year, everyone!

It’s on par with where we live in Canada, and we are probably going to move back later this year. Everything has doubled since we moved here last year. The peso has become one of the strongest competing currencies in the world since the pandemic and it’s become a problem for most expats living here. Mexico is definitely no longer a bargain!

Hola Jordan and May! Feliz ano nuevo! Granted it has gotten more expensive but it's still not expensive compared to the US by any perch you may choose to roost on, cheaply or extravagantly. Even though overall I'm paying less than 150 dollars more per month because of inflation and the exchange rate than I paid most of last year, it's not going to break the bank, at least not my bank. Last year I rarely spent more than $1000us per month and that includes car insurance, IMSS and I still have Medicare in the US that CA conveniently pays my monthly premium on. I am still able to live and eat like a Rey very comfortably for less than $1100+us per month in a one bed and bath less than two miles from the beach that I can see from my patio hammock while dozing off listening to the muffled sound from a mariachi concert at the harbor malecon off in the distance...Buena suerte!

Hey there Jordan. I appreciated your transparent video. I Have heard that Queretaro is one of the priciest cities in Mexico. I live in Playa Del Carmen, which is also not inexpensive. This said, there are definitely ways to save on costs s.a. for example, opting for a more colonial-style building with less amenities or opting for a smaller apartment. The cost of eating out at restaurants can definitely add up but I think that’s the case in any city. Groceries tend to be cheaper for me as a vegan but not if I’m buying the hand-crafted coconut yogurt and hand-crafted organic hummus ;) On the other hand, lentils can go on for days hehe. Btw, 200 USD/month for supplements seems a bit excessive but I know they can add up. And personally I’d rather pay more for quality food and maybe some supplements vs pay for medications and Drs. I don’t have a car yet but plan on getting one soon. One thing I’ve noticed is that they are not cheap. Sounds like gas isn’t cheap either. Looking forward to free energy technologies to liberate us all from these costs hehe On the other hand, the cost of car insurance that you shared is very affordable compared to what I used to pay in Ontario Canada (hundreds of dollars per month.) Electronics you are definitely better off buying in the US or Canada vs Mexico. With regards to the M2 or square footage of properties, I work in real estate over here and it is common practice to include balconies and terraces in the overall square footage of the properties. Most builders/sellers will break it down e.g. xx M2 indoor + xx M2 terrace. Thanks again for your educational video. Happy New Year to you and Mai too 🎉

With a population of over 127 million people in Mexico and about 20,000 Americans moving there the past few years, it's well known that is not the main cause of what is driving the prices up. Good try but try digging a little deeper... One of the main reasons, statistically speaking, is that Mexicans citizens are making more money and quite a few are moving to more expensive areas to live and paying the higher asking prices for those homes....

Yes the cost have gone up 50-100% in the last 3 years here in Morelos . More so in tourist areas such as Tepoztlan Morelos . The nicer parts of CDMX , like Coyoacan have also seen similar increases .This is partly due to all the North Americans moving here . Compared to the west coast of the US housing prices are still very low . Fresh fruits and veggies are very inexpensive buying from the small vendors . Anything technical that is imported is more than in the US . Used and new Macs and iPhones are more expensive in Mexico . Health care and Rx drugs are a lot less in Mexico , where Doctors still make house calls . Eldercare is a small fraction of what it cost in the States . Cleaning and gardening workers are a fraction of the cost in Mexico . Hope this helps .
