@@jxsuscastillo lainez was a failure because he went to Real Betis and thought he already made it to Europe (Andres Guardado even came out said he personally told lainez that just because you made it doesn’t mean you’re going to stay meaning you have to bust your ass to stay on the team) obviously Real Betis loaned him to another club to see if he can improve obviously that didn’t worked out so off to liga mx with tigeres and didnt do shit. Marcelo Flores… for the 2022 people begged and cried for this child who hadn’t even reached his full potential and was in a second division from the UK was expected to do something against Poland, the argentines and the saudis… eventually the second division cut him lose sending him to ligamx right along with lainez. 2023-24. Played 25 matches only made 6 goals and one assist. If you’re happy with these results then God help us… with that being said yes he’s only 20 but we definitely need to see more out of this man if you want him in the senior lever of la seleccion… but if you’re one of those just because he’s “young” obviously you don’t care about the team, at this point I’m passed the youth and the “generation change” if the youth can’t fuckn play then what’s the purpose of calling them up if they can give results give me someone who can fuckn ball and score! Again we still have Uriel antuna, Luis Romo, Charly, Jorge Sánchez it’s getting ridiculous.. Cesar Montes he’s okay with paired up with Johan Vasquez. I would hate to have Edson Alvarez be CB because then what about the midfield it’s already bad as it is without Edson. I don’t trust Orbelin Pindeda or Luis Chaves (no offense, sometimes he is inconsistent which you have to agree).

It’s the perfect time to debut the younger players. Andres guardado debuted in Copa America when he was in liga mx in a knockout game. So why not do it with new players? They need experience against a tougher competition and Leadership which is something that the older players like Henry or Romo lack.

Although we all agree this is too late of change, we can also agree it was a much needed action. Copa America isn’t a cup to sneeze at. That will be a great enough experience for them to kind of get prepared for the World Cup.

It’s absolutely the right time and in my opinion the shift should include a lot more changes. We are not expecting Mexico to make an impact at the Copa America anyways. But it’s the perfect tournament to experiment against some of the top nations in the world.

I think it's great they're getting the younger players. I'm 50 years old and I've been watching el Tri since the 1986 world cup and since world cup 2022 this is THE WORST Seleccion Mexicana I've ever seen. I just don't see this team doing anything good in world cup 2026. For me anything new is good.

with almost no experience and lots of motivation, lozano got 3rd place beating japan doing a great tournament that he could have won if not that they didn't have the defense required to keep nil, or a close game. It is the right move and at the right time you have nothing to lose... the generation that tried in qatar already had their chance they failed... and they will fail again. better to take a risk, than to play conservative and play to keep your job.

I wouldn’t say failed 100%. Most of them didn’t start all games in Qatar and Mexico had good players at the time. They had enough players to have defense, midfield and attack to have a strong team. But the former coach sold that World Cup. Leaks have been coming out and an image with him meeting with another coach leaked out.

@@Superglitchym really man imagine messi losing with a team that don't even rank among the first 50 in the world... then have to win the second game with a friend of messi who was an former argentina coach, and that knows if messi fails to win that world cup he is a failed messiah forever... his last train to win the WC... he had to sell out the game everybody in mexico knows this and that is why we are pissed. rightfully so, our national team is not top 10 or top 20 we know this but it isn't that bad either... that it's not a good generation of players we know this but still you can play good strategy and tactics and go back to 2 defensive mid fielders, 2 wingers, 2 striker that maintains cohesive control of the ball which allows mexico to pass better and recover the ball and counter quick. with that game strategy any mexican national team will work as expected. and fail less passes.

I don't mind the new kid players. A good coach will make them be great. What I don't like or trust too much is: Jimmy Lozano. It doesn't seem like the guy really has an interesting or exciting soccer schemes. I don't see players really developing with him either.. We should try to get Osorio back, I hear he's at Xolo's, or will be soon. Now is the time to have him lead el Tri again, right the ship.

It should be the norm. Younger players getting buried on the bench has been a problem in Mexico for decades. All under the excuse of them needing to fully develop. I've seen players not make their debut at the club level at age 27 or 28. The national team has been plagued by guys who can no longer keep up taking the place of someone who's in a better spot to play. It's been infested by televisa way too many times.

I thinks it’s a positive change. Jimmy Lozano did great at the Olympics and they lost to Brazil in penalties who had a deep squad. Plus I don’t see Ochoa, Martin and the others being a part of the 2026 wc anyway.

@gerardocarrillo2868 I only saw Internet highlights of his Pachuca days (im in England, Liga MX content isnt easy to come by here) I saw him at PSV(first time around) on TV, I wasn't impressed with him but you never know with young guys (i remember a young Carles Puyol at Barcelona, he was terrible, but then went on to become a legendary figure), i agree he maybe couldve become something, nothing he did impressed me at Napoli, and since going back to PSV he doesn't even look like the young Chucky Lozano

Why on Gods earth this is the “right move”? You can’t expect the youngsters to play a “mini World Cup” and in 2025 there isn’t a big tournament that I’m aware of, and to make matters worse the World Cup will be a year away. So you’re telling me the youngsters are ready to play against Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and possibly USMNT. If so you have lost you’re damn mind! This generation changed should have been made since the 2023 Gold Cup or just like they said since Diego Cocca was appointed and to build that confidence and to see who’s staying and not. Its too late for this, I’m sorry! If you think they are ready, god help us. Copa America should be the idea tournament of who we are taking to the World Cup, NOT to see a generation change.

I definitely think the team will struggle no doubt, however, my counterpoint is that Mexico is not a win now mode. If we were talkingn about Lavolpe’s 2004-2006 Mexico then yeah, I’d prioritize winning now. However, el tri doesn’t have the base to build a quinto partido or beyond team in 2026, so starting from scratch to bet on 2030-2038 where some of these players and the youth (if clubs and the liga bosses help) develop stars to take us there.

This tournament should be our mini best before the World Cup. It’s extremely sad how our people (Mexicans) are filled with joy that finally “the change” is here.

Split. Late on this, developing a contending team is not done in a world cup cycle but over multiple. Ex. Belgium gradually building up to 2018. Even if Jimmy went with the seasoned folks, we are not in a position to justify going gong ho win now. Betting on a rebuild where if we move things right we could have some youth growing in La Liga Mx and becoming contenders in Europe where come 2030-2038 Mexico is stronger seems the better bet.
