MEXICO NO LONGER REQUIRES VISA FOR BRAZILIANS | HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TRAVEL TO CANCUN? (all prices)
The Mexican Government returned to require a physical visa for Brazilian tourists who wish to visit Mexico in August last year, which caused the flow of Brazilians to the destination to drop by around 60%. However, that could soon change. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, in a public hearing in the Chamber of Deputies, the government of Mexico will go back and exempt Brazilian travelers from the visa requirement, as reported by the Estadão.
The portal reports that Mauro Vieira said he personally spoke with the foreign ministers of Mexico and Japan about ending the requirement. The countries' decision favors Brazilians, according to the minister. In addition, Estadão also informs that travelers from both countries will have guaranteed exemption, in return.
“I was in Mexico about a month ago, I negotiated with Minister Marcelo Ebrard and asked him to examine the issue of renewing our previous agreement, otherwise we would also have to impose visas on Mexicans. The reaction was very positive. We are in full negotiation. The visas of Brazilians traveling to Mexico will also be suspended, always caused by the requirement of reciprocity”, stated Mauro.
JAPAN - The news was revealed a week after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with the Japanese Prime Minister in Japan, Fumio Kishida. At the meeting, Fumio said that his Japan would begin procedures to exempt short-term visas for Brazilians visiting the country.
