it's so heartbreaking imagining how the Mayan people must've felt seeing their temples destroyed to build the structures of their colonizer's religion 🥺❤️ as an Armenian I can relate... Turkey and Azerbaijan have been doing that to our ancient structures and grave sites for centuries, and are currently doing it today, especially in Artsakh... it's ethnic cleansing, erasing history, and genocide. I'm glad at least that one temple was able to survive in izamal. hopefully some Armenian structures will survive too like the Mayan's temples.

Agreed, that oppression is absolutely heartbreaking, and it happens throughout the world. Many people don’t learn about this, or they forget very easily. I’m sorry to hear you can personally relate, I hope Armenian cultural sites receive some protection soon.

LOVES THIS EPISODE GUYS 🤩🤩 the happiest little town in Yucatán ☀️ Geovannys mom actually uses that sour orange in a lot of the cooking she does - it gives incredible flavor 👌🏼 especially when she marinates red onion in the juice 🤤 we actually had no idea that there was any kind of Middle Eastern influence in Yucatán at all, that’s so interesting 🙌🏼🇲🇽 keep up the great work amigos, can’t wait for the next one 🤗🤗

I wonder if Armenians were among the people who migrated to Mexico. there is a very big population of Armenians in Lebanon because of the Armenian Genocide launched by the Turkish Ottomans in 1915 (and the Armenian Genocide continues today, perpetrated by Turkey and Azerbaijan). but sometimes when I was growing up in Los Angeles, some of my Mexican friends really looked Armenian and would get confused for being Armenian. Perhaps they are descendants of people of the region known as the Middle East who took refuge in Mexico too. Interesting. thanks for sharing!

This is very interesting! Thank you so much for sharing we love to learn about diasporas and past migrations because it helps us learn more about our culture and about ourselves.

Informative video as usual, interesting about the disagreement regarding why so much of the town is yellow! I had no idea about the Mediterranian influence in that part of Mexico, very cool.

Interesting !!! I remember going through Izamal but my friends only stopped for the pyramid. It was brutally hot that day. If I remember this correctly I think it was at the monastery in Izamal that some parts of the Mayan written language were notated and translated.Lots of history there under both the Mayans and the Spanish. Great video !!!

I think it’s a beautiful city , is it expensive? How much are rents and food there , is it as hot as Merida? Great video , I love that there are pyramids in town and there free👍, I would never get tired of visiting the pyramids and old buildings . ❤️❤️🇲🇽😃👏
@EatBailaTravel3 жыл бұрын
It is cheaper Compared to Merida. Merida is the highest in Yucatán when it comes to dinning,food, and cost of living. Many people say safety has its price and that makes the high prices worth living in Merida.

Jenny this is unrelated but what makeup do you use?? It's so hot but your makeup stays on! I need to know haha
@EatBailaTravel3 жыл бұрын
IT Cosmetics CC cream! With SPF 50 it goes on so smooth and light ☺️ I use the matte one for hot & humid weather and the regular one for colder temps. Set with a bare minerals powder I found in the random pile of clearance items at TJ Maxx lol
