Carnival needs to start taking some of its Tampa cruises to the Eastern Caribbean islands. Give the cruisers out if Tampa some variety.

Also in Tampa, scrap the Carnival Paradise. With the welded on balcony cabins and just old and worn out, a newer ship would be a welcome change.

Morning Doug, Mexico knew just when to implement tax , after contracts were signed for private destinations etc. time to focus on other ports, Jamaica with its issues is beautiful, filled with history , culture and food. Caymans would like to see more ships. Love Mexico, but other islands do exist. DR, also is developing more ports. The old quarter in Santo Domingo is pretty cool.

Seems the clarification of the Mexico tax as only applicable once is what I predicted, being an immigration tax. This might actual change Cruise Lines schedules by creating Mexico ONLY or HEAVY sailings that call on 2 or more Mexican ports, while others that only has 1 port planned in Mexico will now avoid Mexico totally. If you do 2 or even more ports in Mexico the tax, per port, is not much different to many other places globally including Alaska. curious to see how this will unfold.

West coast cruises are mostly Mexico only, with three stops, leaving from LA, and sometimes four stops leaving from San Diego.

Thanks Doug for that clarification that if a cruise ship hits multiple Mexican ports the $42 tax only applies once per cruise. I was very curious about that and couldnt find any clarification through reading up on this. I shouldnt even try and just wait for you to tell me. :-)

Mornin' Doug. Sounds like the cruise lines are softening their rhetoric on the Mexican tax. I was curious as to whether it would be assessed by port or sailing. I dunno. We're NCL folks, but it mostly sounds like the "upgrades" are upgraded opportunities for onboarding spending. It probably won't change our plans, but it does kind of sour the excitement of a refurb.

Not sure why people thought it was $42 per port I knew that wasn't the case, but there's too many new cruises that are too stupid to understand things, I for one don't plan to go to Mexico anytime soon and in this case I might not go back ever again.

In all fairness, Mexico charges fees for visitors staying in hotels, but cruise ships are exempt. This is intended to provide a level playing field, but they should have given more warning.

I have two cruises booked before the price hike go into effect in Mexico. Mexico I’m done with yo after that. You don’t really have anything I can brag about, that’s why I don’t leave the ship at port in the first place.

Its sad that Mexico got greedy. If they had charged say $5 a passenger no one would of noticed. They would still bring in a lot of money and over time they could of increased it. Perhaps the States should charge them $42 a person to come and visit.

I don't think that any of us need to pay a tax to fund the Mexican military. That's on their government. What we help fund their military and return have to deal with all their citizens coming here illegally. I'm not sailing to Mexico ever again.

Cruise ship companies need to boycott Mexico. Other wise other countries will start doing the same thing. Then cruising is going to get way too expensive. Then the whining and crying is going to start about how they cannot fill their ships with passengers.

How benelovent Mexico is to much of its bread and butter....like adding sugar to the poison.... If it's not the cruise lines trying our patience now we have ports... No doubt many viewers of your offering Doug could care less about a stop in Mexico...unfortunately for Royal, they made their bed, now they gotta lay in it...get up in arms Royal loyalist...make your voice heard!!!
