We do Pedialyte with Tamales and Pozole with chiles de arbol.... and eventually some more Pacifico's or Modelo's😉 I live in Columbus Ohio which I think has more Mexicans than Querétaro does😂😂My Friends and I have been doing this at our local Taqueria for almost 20 years now!! Works everytime!!

The only thing I have to disagree with May is about her saying that crispy tacos don't exist in Mexico, North of Mexico we do have them except that we don't make it with a pre-cooked tortilla shell like the food chains in USA, we make it with fresh tortillas and cook it to a golden brown crisp with the filling already inside too, and no... I'm not talking about empanadas or tostadas or flautas.... normal tacos usually made out of ground beef, shredded beef or chicken and that way are delicious too with fresh lettuce tomato onios and fresh homemade chile de arbol hot sauce

They have them just like this illegally all over along the road in the dirt here North of Los Angeles. It's windy here and they wind blows up the dirt all over that big meat cone thing and they leave all the salsa etc containers open with dirt blowing in them. They just have tables and canopies, no bathroom for washing up etc. Gross. The food safely and hygiene is disgusting.

About the rule of calling the taquero "Mai", I think that's more of a central or southern thing, her up north I have never, ever, heard anybody calling the taquero that way, here is usually "Don". Also, for breakfast we also have the "Tacos a Vapor" I think they are an slightly different version of the tacos de canasta, you will never see a canasta here in Monterrey, they use a big ass, huge, metallic pot, and the filling is papa (Potatoe), frijoles (Beans), chicharron y desebrada (Not really sure how that's call in english)

I would also say it’s very much a central Mexico thing. I haven’t heard it in a while though. You usually hear “joven”, “don”, “amigo”, or even nothing at all. People just be hungry 😅

Im chilanga and grew up in Mexico City but currently live north I also have never heard anybody call the taquero “Mai” we just call him “joven” 😂. Also the version of tacos al vapor in the south IS tacos de canasta which in my opinion are better 😋 but to each their own.

For the record, there are crunchy fried tacos in Mexico that are legitimate - tacos dorados. They are often rolled like Americans think of as a taquitos, but they can also be folded like a traditional taco.

The best store bought beer I ever had was in Ukraine, they make awesome homemade vodka too! My wife is from Ukraine and she knows the recipe, it's a good thing I only drink occasionally!

Jordan, If the yellow citrus fruit is called lemon in the US, and "limón amarillo" in Mexico, and the small green citrus fruit is called lime in the US and limón in Mexico, how are "limas" called in the U. S.? In México, limas are a larger green citrus fruit, which is sweet. We hardly use them on main dishes in Mexico. Maybe just for desert.

I was chatting with a local at a park in Morelia while our dogs played. I mentioned that I had found a restaurant selling tacos for 3 pesos. He informed me that I could get an even better price if I brought my dog with me. I decided that when a local says a restaurant “no es higienico” I should pay attention. The place was pretty crowded though, so lots of people might just mean cheap rather than good quality.

It's absolutely o.k. to eat tacos on the 4th. of July. 3. Tacos are for all ocasions. Comfort food, like a cuppa for the British. 4. Pinky finger up. Like drinking coffee or tea the elegant way in the UK. 5. Yes, uneven number of tacos. Just like ordering flowers. Always an uneven number. 6.
