Today we review the 2016 Mezco ONE:12 Collective The Dark Knight Returns Mutant Leader action figure. During the articulation and subsequent action figure photography session for the video his pants flaked off to an alarming rate. A great looking figure aside from that fact but proceed with caution if purchasing this TDKR Mutant Leader.

I know i’m extremely late, but I’ve seen people talking about a Mafex Mutant Leader, but I want a Beast Kingdom Mutant Leader, I’ve gotten the Beast Kingdom DKR Black suit batman, and he’s awesome! I think Beast Kingdom would do great if they did Mutant Leader.

Good figure, but that´s why I quit 90% of Mezcos: soft goods damaging. Now, that Triumphant Batman...skipped on it....but now I have to get it and wait for Mafex´s mutant leader.

I've been thinking about Mutant Leader and then this video comes out! I stand by the fact that the Batman vs Mutant Leader fight was one of the best fights in Batman history and the animated film did the battle justice. Great review and great figure!

Yeah..... I talked to Mezco when this first came out! They were still a newer company in clothed figures but I remember when they told me and released a notice all over different social media sites that the batch of material they bought and used on this figure happened to be a bad batch of material!! The company that sold the material stopped carrying it because of complaints from customers and not just Mezco! In fact, Mezco's outfits actually are well made and stand up to vigorous posing and posing positions! What I recommend doing is buying from a third party retailer that sells 1\12 scale clothing for action figures or, if u have the talent, make yourself a 1\12 scale pair of shorts! That's what I did.... I bought a pair of leather shorts specifically made for this figure and the problem with the original shorts! The new pair looked 100% better than the original and they were real leather and the tailoring just made them fit much better than the original! I love this figure for Batman and he looks great posed next to him!!

I recently bought the mutant leader/DKR 2 pack by Mezco. It was unopened and by the time I finished a video, my mutant leader did the same thing with the pants.

The outfits have all held up since this one came out and the price has remained pretty the same. Apparently it was a bad batch of this fabric.

Mutant Leader is billed as 6'5, 265 so a bigger, beefier version from MAFEX would be appreciated.

The glasses aren't actually opaque. They are translucent meaning they permit some light to enter but not as much as if they were transparent. I'll likely just leave him as is but for a 2016 product that hasn't been handled all that much those pants falling to crumbs is just not OK. You're right though, custom pants and he'll be perfect.

Except you didnt buy a new figure, it is 5 years old staying inside packaging in who knows what kind of storage conditions it will affect the material regardless if it wasnt played with.

I hear where you're coming from but this should be an issue. I've been looking into this and it's actually a very common occurrence. This batch of fabric they used wasn't properly tested by the maker who sold it to not only Mezco but all kinds of businesses. The result is a poor quality pair of pants due to defective product at the fabrication level rather than storage before sale.

Most of those Mezco figures are not going to make it through time , also those storm collectibles soft torsos concern me, that's why no matter how sexy they are I don't buy them
