As a lifelong fan of this character, the "magic effect" from the girasol ring is a hypnotism effect. The individual in the telebox is Agent Burbank. Think of him as a 1930's, male, pre-internet equivalent of DC Comics's "Oracle". He gathers information from all of The Shadow's various agents, and relays the intel. The balances are from an actual pulp cover, that Howard Chaykin 'homaged" for the collected edition of his mini series from the 1980's. The Shadow was one of the inspirations for Batman. The figure is great, and so was your review.

I love your outlook on these things. These toys bring me joy as well-have since I was a wee lad. They're meant to be fun. They're meant to make us smile. There are some reviewers who are so focused on everything they don't like about something, picking out every little flaw, completely neglecting the opportunity to just have fun with them. And that's a shame. I always come back to your reviews, even on figures I have no interest in. There have been several times when I've ended up wanting a figure I wasn't remotely interested in, after your review, because you have this uncanny ability to reveal the best parts of them. I discovered The Shadow when I was kid in the late 90's and they made a bunch of Pulp Hero films. Really loved The Shadow, The Phantom, The Rocketeer and Dick Tracy! Can't wait to get mine!!! Hope Mezco keeps diving into these characters, especially Dick Tracy cause he has some of the most colorful villains and they work for the Shadow too.

The shadow is an amazing character, especially in the pulps. Mix Houdini with Dracula and give him a pair of automatics. Audible has some of these pulps as audio books as well if interested. They are well produced.

Even if you're not into The Shadow, that suited body is a great resource. It could be repurposed into a lot of of characters. Like Bruce Wayne for example.

This is exclusive and already hard to come by. I'd much rather people who actually care about the character itself to have him before we go dissecting parts. We all know the suit design will be used many times over in coming releases. Let the actual FANS of the character who haven't had DICK in merchandise for this guy for years have their moment.

'Exclusive' means nothing with Mezco now, this one is no different, there's atleast 3 retailers on the first page of Google that are selling him and in stock so, no, he's not hard to come by. He's far too niche to sell out, very few people know what The Shadow is and even less care enough about it to buy a figure of him. This is far more valuable as a custom base than the character. 2. You have no authority on what people can buy, if I want the body and have the money to buy it, I couldn't give a damn if a 'big fan of the shadow' couldn't get it. Not my problem.

I got hip to the Shadow with the 90s Alec Baldwin movie, so I been liking the character for a while. The Golden Age/pulp stuff is really a huge nostalgia point for people. I love the fact that companies are tapping into that.

Mine is processing from Mezco can't wait, I had read a few of my uncle's old comics in 80's and enjoyed the character but I became a fan when I saw the film in the 90's. Since then I've gone back and read whatever I could find.

As far as Shadow stories, I highly recommend Shadow/Twilight Zone. Came out 6-7 years ago. It's a great combination of properties and you get a lot of the character's history.

I'm still blown away at how deep Mezco has gone into pulp. Not only have they come out with established pulp characters (The Shadow, Conan, Dick Tracy), but the Rumble Society is turning into pure pulpy goodness. Unfortunately, their price and availability are too prohibitive for me, and I can only admire them from afar. However, I would still love to see Mezo release The Spider.

Excellent review bro! Didn't see this guy coming. The Shadow is a cool old school hero,kind of in the same vein as The Phantom,I watched the 90s movie with Alec Baldwin. Come to find out,he was the inspiration for Batman and Spider-Man Noir took some cues from him as well. I remember some homages & parodies of him in stuff like Batman the Animated Series with the Grey Ghost and in Pinky & The Brain where Brain played a character called The Fog. He's very versatile,you do really come up with really dope crossovers with the likes of Batman,Hellboy or soon Dick Tracy to name a few.

I’m hoping mines will ship soon, I do wish he would have come with the Lamont Cranston head cause the Shadow face is the Shadows disguise, the Lamont head would kinda look like Bruce Wayne, Since Mezco is doing Dick Tracy , I’m hoping they’ll do Doc Savage, Green Hornet, The Phantom, the Avenger,as well as Flash Gordon May be even Buck Rogers I love all the pulp hero’s and even some of there sidekick’s like The Shadow’s Margo, Flash’s Dale & Dr.Zarchov, Kato, The shadow was created before Batman and Superman , Shadow, Doc Savage,Flash Gordon , Tarzan, Conan Sherlock Holmes and the Green hornet was what led to the birth of Batman & Superman and all the other hero’s to come
