When I was a little kid listening to his song I was like "Is he crazy? I wanna grow up, make money, have a big ass house and car, marry a gorgeous woman" Now I've all grown up and this music made sense. I wanna go back I really missed my childhood!

I miss my beautiful childhood memories i miss home 😢😢😢😢😢 i wish I couldn't grow up 😢who is with me in 2024 still listening to this song old is gold
was like 4 years old when this came out and I never paid attention to this song. But now that I look back and listen to it, it makes me realize how much I miss Ethiopia. I have always wanted to live outside Ethiopia, but now that I actually am far away from home...I miss everything. I miss the people, my friends, the traditions, the games I played when I was a kid. I am literally crying so much right now. I dreaded my life in Ethiopia, but now I would do anything to go back. The song reminds me of the good times I took for granted

I hope one day God willing you can go back and enjoy everything now that you’re older. It feels like a punch when you’re reminded that you’re never going to get your childhood days back. But there is also beauty in the new days.
I was about 9 or 10 when this song came out. I was living back in Ethiopia, playing with mud, walking with friends, enjoying my childhood. Now I am in Texas, all grown-up, taking care of myself and acting professional. I wish I could go back to Ethiopia and and live my childhood again. I used to get a haircut with some hair left in the back. I was a very dirty and unclean kid, nothing like today. Chika mabukat nafekegn. Gojo bet be ashewa mesrat, ekaka, kuas, akukulu....ere uuuuuuu!!! Lijinete nalign!!!!

I miss my childhood days in Addis Ababa & Dire Dawa. I was 10 when we moved to Washington DC. I feel like I've lived two lives, but my childhood days in Ethiopia are unmatched. As an Amhara during those days I looked at everyone as my brother & sister & I genuinely loved them all. As an adult tho I'm a ruthless business man who only looks at Amhara as my brothers & sisters. Time has ruined my beautiful outlook on life, Lijinetae nafekegn

This song really hit me in the feels. Knowing on how much I enjoyed my childhood. As a kid, I absolutly loved this song and it made me cry. Looking back at it, it makes me miss the past knowing I can never go back but live fowards. To me, back then felt so simple, I had fun, played video games with my dad and spent more time with him. But now, I have been very busy with work and what I need to do. This song will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you.

Unfortunately that’s what happens when we grow up. And for those of us who move away from home and live abroad it’s even more difficult. I just feel sad for the generations that won’t be able to relate to this song. I hope you get a break from work soon! Thanks for sharing

@Foadjemal Hassen we can talk bro/sis. I wanna talk about my childhood with my Ethiopian friend
As a kid, I liked and enjoyed this song. However, as an adult, I came to love and appreciate it far more. It brings back all the wonderful memories of childhood. It encapsulates what it was like to be a kid back then. Unfortunately, the following generations won’t be able to relate to it.

I am literally crying remembering how we use to pay 25 cents to watch this masterpiece in the cinema from 2005-2010. Now it reminds me of my childhood. 😢😢

When I was a kid my mom used to cry when this song comes on ETV and i used to make fun of her and asking her “why are you crying it’s just a song?” because she doesn’t get emotional easily. I was 6 or 7 at the time. now I’m crying and I felt it deeply. I’m sorry enate, now I know why. edemesh yerzemelgn yene Nigist ❤.
This song always reminds of my best friend called Abel who helped with his school shoe when he saw that I didn't have any shoe to go to school with. This happened at Kabena SDA School, some where around Menelik, in Addis Ababa when I was in grade 3, 17yrs ago.Missing him so much. Missing those times when we used to play with small ball in Yalmeda ground 😢😢😢. God bless Him where he is. I will never forget him .
