Each deceptively “simple” arrangement of the cutouts is as layered in its impact and symbolism as the most complex musical composition, poem, choreography, or any other form of art. His work entrances me now at 71, as it did when I was a child, and continues to surprise me, fill me with wonder, and take my breath away. It also makes me smile in delight.
