Excellent! Does your unit still suffer from some of the bugs (eg saving patches doesn’t work 100 % accurate, USB port doesn’t work and some tuning issues)?
@bazrin4 жыл бұрын
@@limbicbits it's funny you say that, I saved a patch and went back to it and thought to myself, I don't think that's how I remember it! Haha. Good to know! I'll double save in hoping that will do the trick. Just about every patch has the Reverb 50%+ and it clackles really badly. I found that not using the Reverb that much and playing with the filter stereo fixes the issue. Haven't hooked up a USB keyboard into it but I absolutely LOVE this machine. It's the raddest thing I own outside of the Behringer Cat.
@rishpanjeet74792 жыл бұрын
@@bazrin do you still have it? I’m really considering finding one. Other contenders are Peak, Take 5, older Nord Leads, or maybe saving more for one of the Access Virus editions. This MIGHT be the one that sounds most interesting to me of the current synths available.

Great sound, very flexible. If you‘re into hardware, it‘s one of the top analogue polys these days. Here‘s pondering whether it can add something to my arsenal of soft synths though…

Probably not to be honest. I think hardly anything beats the functionality of software synths.

Either you need hardware in your life or you don't. As a touring musician, you won't catch me onstage with a laptop and a bunch of flimsy peripherals... Period. Cheers!
@reaktiv14084 жыл бұрын
No aliasing ever on analog synth! The most important thing to consider is how you control your soft synths, since there's really no satisfying solution to compensate the lack of knobs and clumsy parameters mapping and labeling. I love both for their own strengths, that's why I prefer developing a hybrid rig

Very nice sounding synth. Its almost a bit Yamaha CS sounding in an organ/synthy type way if that makes sense.

I've had a very buggy pre-production unit when recording this video. I also like(d) this synth a lot but bugs kept me away from a purchase. As far as I know, though, MFB has fixed most of them in the meantime so I'd give it a try.

Limbic Bits, let me ask you, I hear so much about this synth being a headache, with bugs and poor build quality, yet I feel like it is the perfect polysynth to go with my Monomachine. Do you have any insight on any of this? Is it really such a lemon or is that an exaggeration?
@limbicbits4 жыл бұрын
My unit was one of the first around so my opinion might be a bit biased and / or outdated. For the price being asked, the build quality was ok - I've seen worse but also better.The bugs in my unit though made me return it. The worse bug was that every time when I saved a patch and recalled it, the settings just didn't match the state I've saved. Effect settings were different, the oscillators were heavily out of tune (also after automatically recalibrating it) and also the filter settings were different. But then again, my synth has been running on an older firmware that has been updated in the meantime. MFB states that the bugs have been solved but I've read different comments in the forums. Maybe it has also something to do with the hardware units. It seems that recently purchased units don't show these issues. It is a great synth, worth the money and definitely on my list for the future. But as long as these issues aren't fixed 100 % I hesitate to buy it again. Best thing would be to check it out at your local store, try to build your own preset and to save / recall it. If this works smoothly, go for it
@PaulVonZeppelin4 жыл бұрын
Limbic Bits if I may ask, what would you buy first: a Pro-Synth, or the MegaFM? Something with nice pad sounds to go along with my Elektron gear (DT, MnM, and Model Cycles) would be my preference
@limbicbits4 жыл бұрын
@@PaulVonZeppelin Nice pad sounds? I'd choose a Novation Peak first, tbh. MEGAfm is cool, but very rough at the same time. So it wouldn't be my first choice for pads. Synth Pro is great fi they got the bugs sorted out.

I've occasionally added some Valhalla DSP reverb (7:20 e.g.). The internal effects aren't very good, though so I definitely recommend to either use the Synth Pro with an external effect device or add some PlugIns to it.

My unit was a prototype so I've had some issues like some parameters haven't been stored properly when saving a patch etc. But these should be solved in the version that's being sold now. It's a great synth with a melancholic character as you've pointed it out already.

This is mainly a question of personal taste. The Synth Pro has a strong "organ / Yamaha-CS" vibe, Prophet is, well, more on the Prophet-side soundwise. Best thing would be to directly compare both and decide what fits a) your sound preferences and b) your workflow better.
