lot of really good improvements and I bet you might 3d print a cone for the forward compartment to house your camera system which did not fit. I wonder if there is possibility to make this place better prepared for a belly landing solution. I doubt that wheels would improve that really much . A second underbelly or a kind of longer sled under the belly might work to protect the camera and the finn at the end but the height of the finn determins the size or height of the sled. Great review and eplanations with a lot of powerfull ideas like the considerations about the prop and the box as the carrier. I have bought a big bag from IKEA, these blue ones for groveries and so on. You can then connect that bag after a few cuts with the bag - in my case a strong tape to get a kind of nice grip in your hands. This way you get the other hand free while carrying the table and stool for example. And you always have a safe grip cause nothing can fall out of your hands when you carry such a box which usually can not be carried under an arm and requires both hands to be carried safely . The ikea bag was cheap and makes it easier to provide a strong and reliable grip which you can move around till you have found the sweet spot of balance (and remind also where you have put everything and in what direction cause that save a lot of time). I had crashed once a plane and damage it when it had been in the box and I fell over a root from a tree , the boxes crashed out of my hands and the plane fell out of the box to be damaged when I fell onto that plane . Since then I try to reuse the boxes more carefully cause that was the biggest crash landing i had when my weight and bones had destroyed close to every part, wings, ailerrons, fuselage nose. Every piecs of foam and plastic bend or broken . It became a puzlle bomber and never flew again properly till I slaughtered it and transplanted everything into a new model with an abs molded fuselage.

Yes, for a while there I was thinking to print something for the nose to hold the mapping camera... but I never got around to doing that, plus it would have looked so huge compared to the rest of the plane. As for belly landing... I really hope it doesn't come to that. The way the landing gear mounts to the fuselage would make it risky and would possibly suffer damage even with something attached there to slide on. Ideally you can print a whole new nose piece to bring the gimbal up, above the lowest part of the belly... and as for the rear fin... it could be sacrificial... but that is way too much modding! Just fingers crossed it wouldn't come to belly landing! If it does... I might try to catch it... would be cheaper to replace some wings than the camera, fuselage, etc. :) Hmmmm... about that bag... this is giving me an idea... I could have a tailor just sew up a bag to fit around the box... will be relatively cheap, will support a local business and should get the job done pretty nicely! Yes, I will look into that! As for your plane... that really sucks... hasn't happened to me yet... hoping it won't!

Great update and walk through! I am lacking on my CAD skills so this 3D printed antenna mounts would definitely be better than the ones that come with the kit. I'm looking to build a second with the Uni7 and ZR30 and AI 2 module.
@ArxangelRC2 күн бұрын
Thanks! Well darn... that is a pretty serious system you will have there, especially if the ZR30 plays nice! :) Good luck, that would be awesome to zoom with!

Nice. Are you planning on losing this one on top of the mountain? Also. Did you ever figure out where that interference was coming from?
@ArxangelRC2 күн бұрын
@@WX4CB Preferably not! I haven't figured it out, but it would be a transmitter of some sort... whether it is for some useful transmission or just a jammer so we can't fly up there... I cannot say!

excellent overview - even though I prefer a proper plane or a drone and not these hybrids which come with a lot of compromises and drawbacks like the efficiency lost from the drone configuration in flying mode. Of cause it protects the camera gear a lot better.
@ArxangelRCКүн бұрын
Well... for a long time I had the same mindset, however, recently I have seen the value in VTOLs because no matter what you do, you can't always find a good landing strip, and if you want to have a gimbal on the plane, that makes the job of safely landing it even harder! Yes, you do make compromises with VTOLs in certain aspects, but the convenience of the vertical take offs and landings is something I have come to appreciate a lot in the past two years. Getting a VTOL for mapping has made that work so much easier!

How many kilograms can this drone fly with this equipment?
@ArxangelRCКүн бұрын
Well, that would depend on the battery you chose, but currently it has roughly around 500-600 grams of payload, if you go with a smaller battery you could fit 1kg payload. The idea is not to go over 7kg.
