I am looking at the mfj 891 2k watt ones for cb ..LOL need to know if it will work on AM for a 1x4

How does it compare with the radio’s SWR function? Do they measure the same?

Seeing that the 870 will measure 1.6- 60 MHz. Also your MFJ 891 measures 1.6-60 MHz. They work on all modes.
