@@mfournier01 …I subbed earlier today. I had viewed your video of “I Don’t Believe In Love”, and left a comment on that one, too. Looking forward to watching your other videos. It’s great to finally see a pro drummer that can nail the grooves, feel and parts, as well as all of Scott’s fills. You should have a lot more subs than you do. Top notch playing.

Hey Drumdog... well done. I have few tech questions. I know you used to play on a TD10 module. I have 2 Yamaha DTXIII modules now and I'd like to replace one and was thinking of the TD10. I'd like a TD20 but they are a bit pricey. Wondering what you thought of the TD10...pros and cons. I also notice in this video that you have some other component above the TD20...what is that?
@mfournier018 жыл бұрын
+John Peart Thanks John. I did have the TD-10 and it is a very impressive module with many of the capabilities of it's big brothers (TD-12,TD-30, etc). The downsides: It doesn't support 3 way cymbal triggering (ride), it had fewer outputs if you want to track your instruments separately, but my biggest gripe was there was no memory card option that allowed you to load/share kits onto. I have downloaded many pre built kits from other drummers as well as v-expressions (a website dedicated to v-drums). This has saved me lots of programming time and brought out features I didn't realize were capable of the TD-20. I also expanded it to support all of the new cymbal nuances and other sounds. Either way you go you can't lose but IMHO I would save more $ and pick up a used TD-20 expanded if you can!

Jammit site...very cool. Being able to isolate the drum parts will make it so much easier to learn. Took me a little while to figure out how download songs to a file so I can burn it to CD. Just to follow up...so do you mean you can't build your own drumkit and modify each drums sound on a TD10 and save it?...that would suck...also, if your camera records in stereo and the TD 20 has stereo output. why the 4 track...or do you use it as a mixer. Sorry about all the questions...just curious. I have a shitty little camera and my sound quality sucks...what do you use?
@mfournier018 жыл бұрын
+John Peart You can save kits to the TD-10 internal memory. You just can't import pre programmed kits from another source through a compact flash card. The cameras sound audio is terrible so I record to the 4 track, do a quick mix down for level and sync the music to the camera shots using a video editing program!

Great idea...my next purchase will be a 4 track so I can give that a shot..Thanks!!

Dude you fuckin' rock. I've enjoyed every cover I especially like the Metallica and The Huey Lewis covers. I have a suggestion and it's another Huey Lewis song Walking On a Thin Line. Keep rockin' dude.

Hey Drumdog..hopefully my last tech question. Finally got myself a 4 track and am learning slowly. I've been recording the drumless song on one track and practicing/recording drums on another. Wondering if you do the same. Also ..big question, what do you use to use to get the mixdown off of the 4 track
@mfournier018 жыл бұрын
Hi John, sounds like you are on the right track (pun intended). To answer your question, I do my best to set the individual levels before recording the drums onto the 4 track. I am a bit old school that way as many electronic drummers run individual outputs into a DAW so they can tweak them later. I'm just too lazy to put that much effort into it...so after recording the drums, I do a quick stereo master and run it into my computer where I then mix the drums to the music track on a video editor program and Then sync the video up and edit it all together. Hope it makes sense.

Are you using VEX for this or VSTs? That snare is SO fat. Awesome playing.
@mfournier018 жыл бұрын
+Tripp Payne Thanks Tripp. I do use VEX kits that I modify to try to match the album sound the "Best I Can"...On this track I am playing over the original recording so this is a blend of my snare and Scott's. If you check out any of my covers using drumless tracks you will hear my snare only. (Anybody Listening, Silent Lucidity, Hand on Heart, Best I Can, etc)
@jkp15748 жыл бұрын
.....also..where do you get the tracks from minus the drum track?
@mfournier018 жыл бұрын
+John Peart You-tube, Jammit.com, as well as other web sites...Google drumless tracks or songs and see what you find. Oh, and the other little module in the video is a Tascam digital 4 track recorder that I record stereo into from the TD-20

Hey Drumdog...I made a drum cover of this song and I got the track from the same place only it got blocked with some kind of copy write infringement message. Is there something I was supposed to do that I'm missing....I see lots of cover videos and no one seems to have a problem with it.....any tips?
@mfournier018 жыл бұрын
Hey John, It's hard to say what causes a cover video to be blocked. Many of mine are blocked in other countries and we unfortunately have no control over it. The only thing you can do is state you intend to claim no rights and you submit your video for entertainment purposes only. Then hope for the best. Good Luck!
