@@VRFlightSimGuy I’ve concluded I’m done with it for the moment. Did a reinstall got stuck on 97% again. Then loaded in with most of the aircraft missing. Prior to reinstall hit and Miss whether could actually start a flight. I will come back to it but this is just not worth it at the moment for me. I’ll revisit again in a few days. A lot of potential but it’s using a system to power it that is not ready in my opinion. MS and ASOBO have a lot of late nights ahead of them (I hope !) to get it fixed

@OzzySafaКүн бұрын
The colour and vibrance levels of the sky and cloud is more realistic in 2024. I expected the terrain to be more detailed but it’s hard to workout if the servers are streaming how they should be. I also noticed landing is harder and the turbulence seems more realistic especially landing in Florida in light general aviation aircraft you can really feel the thermals on short final. All there’s to say is the future is looking bright for the sim and we all know we will be guaranteed improvements and optimisations. I just wished they had more beta’s so they could get more data to optimise their servers so they got it working as good as possible for launch but lessons learned. 6 months from now we’ll be probably watching a video of how much better the sim is.

To be frank, I dont think we can judge 2024 until it has been full sorted out with the release issues. As its to do with the fact it has to stream so much including aircraft it HAS to have a good server setup to function. It was the worst move Asobo and MS made. I think with luck in a few weeks they will at least realise they need to really let us store more locally like planes, and mods etc. Thanks for the video m8

You can't store planes locally, only terrain, but local caching is turned off in 2024 for now. The solution isn't to store more locally, it's to get more and more servers online, which they are doing (as they announced in the official Discord).

It's the lighting improvements in MSFS2040 are are just staggering in 4K on an OLED screen. This has really surprised me, the ground light reflections on the under belly and wings is just stunning, also the lighting onto the plane itself is more realistic, which really makes materials seem real. Also the landing lights in the wing of the Cessna seem to reflect off the rivets from certain angles! The runway lights are noticeably more twinkly and vibrant, along with projected landing lights on aircraft in the sky (this is cool). The overall look and feel of 2024 feels a huge upgrade from 2020 but you need to be packing the PC power to get the most out of what seem like improvements little but the overall as you said is a more believable visual. I did a 707 walk around and auto start last night, it moves the camera through all the stages on startup, I really enjoyed that, and the textures and detail were incredible, 2024 fan here as you can tell.

When flying Jet fighters, the world loading is not fast enough in msfs 2024 to load the good graphics, so the world in msfs2024 looks worse mostly due to the world loading lagging behind, even with my good internet. Yes, trees look much better too BUT; watching you for years, the one thing you rarely point out are all the dozens of other ground anomalies that are present that you "Seem", (trying to be fair here) to don't want to talk about! You're not the only KZbin simmer either, BUT if you're going to point out advantages the sim has, how about a balanced approach and ALSO point out what is still NOT fixed???? (I watched a JZ2Cents vid yesterday and he pointed out plenty, WHY; because he is being more objective to the game's release disaster and has no bias one way or the other to this game genre. Food for thought sir. I just want some objective honesty from KZbinrs providing a useful service to the rest of us VS fanboy service for the products we use! (Sitting here with a Pimax Crystal Light that still is not working smoothly because fanboys were touting all it's great features and not being honest of it's limitations when being used on a lesser PC system that was NOT the best money could buy to date!)

Maybe it's just me, but every building defaults to white. I don't know if it's a streaming issue, or if it's supposed to look that way, but it reduces the immersion level. Have you noticed the same?

I get a lot better FPS around Los Angeles, but get unseen FPS drops. What I mean by that is I hear crackling noises in my headphones, but I don't see anything while I'm flying. I kept an eye on my FPS counter and every time I hear the crackling, my FPS dropped from 60's to 40's. I have a feeling it's because almost everything is streamed. Everything looks a lot nicer, except the clouds. I play mainly everything on Ultra, but the clouds just seem kind of flat in 2024 compared to 2020. Some of the planes have no visible pilot when looking inside the cockpit from an exterior view. Keybindings are harder in 2024. Some of the same buttons and switches I used in 2020 fail to bind in 2024. I have Virpil gear. I've been lucky, because I have been able to get in quickly and fly. I'm going back to 2020 until I can transfer all my planes from third party devs and my mods to 2024. The cities look a lot worse then 2020, because I don't have my Samscene, Dreamscenery mods in 2024. I'm hoping they will give us a choice to download assets instead of streaming them. I have 1gb internet, but Microsoft/Xbox hasn't been known to have the greatest streaming service when it comes down to Xcloud games.

I have a high end computer and a 4090, so I'm lucky, but it's obvious that 2024 outperforms 2020 on my rig. Almost no stutters no matter where I fly, and completely smooth. The graphics themselves look better most noticeably over treed areas. As far as landing, the planes are more "slippery" and they take more time to slow down.

i9-13900K and RTX 4090. 4K ultra settings. MSFS 2020 was about 40 fps, MSFS 2024 is over 100 fps. I don't know why you're seeing a smaller frame rate difference.

Does the better performance in v2024 also apply to VR? I just read that the Reverb G2 (or wmr) is no longer supported with Windows 11 24H2. Hopefully this will be fixed later or there is a workaround.

Microsoft literally ripped Mixed Reality out of the OS. It's not coming back. MS can go.... !! 🤬

I heard there's no way to save flights in 2024. Is that true?
@Balthazar030Күн бұрын
Even if i have a VR reverb g2 both i have decided to use 2D in both 2022 and 2024 because i just have a 3080 and i was not able to have a decent experience with acceptable graphics details for my taste. As you i noticed that the flight model is much different than 2020. Certainly more difficult now to land especially if there is an air or if the airport is close to hill/mountain! But seems more realistic to me tbh than 2020.
@xclavex18 сағат бұрын
Doesn't look much different at all. In some cases, FS2024 actually looks worse. This looks like a minor upgrade at best. Only improvement I could see is a slight performance increase, but it's not worth a $70 (minimum) price tag. Will give this more time in the oven before spending any money on it.
@observer6179Күн бұрын
The comparison would be more appreciated if we know what you're working with, i.e. CPU & graphic card.

I’ve been having very good performance in the Pimax Crystal, I found that updated the DLSS to 3.1.1, and double checking your Nvidia, and power settings helps. However, and I think it how I had the crystal set up, 2024 looks really washed out. Overall, when it works, 2024 works much better than 2020

The thing is , it does perform better for me too, 4090 as well, but it looks so bad many times - im worried that the performance gains are just simply due to the cloud not being able to stream ultra textures …

What annoyed me the most with 2020 were the "inflatable" morphing mountains, to the point that I stopped flying over the Alpes at all. How does 2024 perform in that regard? Has that finally been fixed?
@SnowTiger4518 сағат бұрын
The contrast and lighting looks better in 2020 albeit maybe a bit too dark. 2024 is much brighter but the contrast and colours look washed or bleached. I realize this could be different cloud conditions but then that makes it difficult to test 1:1 because the ambient lighting may not be equal in both scenes. From what I can see, I prefer the 2020 scenery and graphics.

For me the streaming is an issue with fast internet, but also the changed controls don’t make a lot of sense. Helicopters especially are super twitchy.

How do you get that fps screen in 2024?
@nroskoКүн бұрын
Just on performance alone I feel the cpu performance is better but is more taxing on gpu. This is just a rough guess when trying it. This may explain why pimax users with high res screen do not see better performance.
