At :46, what a great throw by whoever, they pegged Casi right in the face with it and if you slow it down she has the juice from that fruit stuck to her left shoulder where it hit her. Wherever that little ledge is I have watched many videos where the VO's throw fruit up to them. Monkeys are definitely unique and extraordinary in their ability to catch things out of mid air. That is very humanlike. There is another video where Casi is up on this ledge and Calvin is beneath the view obstructed by that wall. A VO vaults a huge mango up their and in one motion you can see Casi immediately put on a scrunchie face because she knows it's coming and she squints to protect her eyes from it. In slow, the mango appears in the screen and does a perfect arc over to where Casi is and then it lands on the ground right in front of her and she quickly snatches it up and begins eating it. What struck me immediately is that where the mango hit would have been almost exactly where Calvin was laying on his back in front of her. So on the slowest setting I watched the video frame by frame as the mango hits the ground and she picks it up. Unbelievably, as she lifts her arm to bring the mango to her mouth Calvin is hanging on it and his whole face comes into view for just a split second. One frame, and guess what Calvin has on his face?!? Stuck to his forehead unmistakably is a piece of mango, which means that mango hit him squarely in the head when it was thrown up there. 😂😂

To make this story even more amazing, I found a video where a VO is in another spot and from where he is at Calvin’s face is still in view for the launch of the mango. The mango does block the very moment it hits him but Casi snatches it quickly and Calvin has distinctive orange mango smashed to his face. This is the scene where he latches onto Casi’s arm and when she lifts the mango to her mouth Calvin has both atms wrapped around Casi’s arm so she lifts his tiny ass up into view and you can see him biting at the mango. Its the only time I ever saw Calvin try to eat anything but breast milk.

Yep. Calvin was lower rank than Celine, meaning he eats last and if not enough food, very little. However, he ate all the time. Calvin refuse to learn his rank as all baby's do learn, and wouldn't or couldn't know his place in the hierarchy. He was a demanding aggressive baby for such a low rank monkey. He's lucky Casi instincts allowed her to help him for as long as she did.

There is nothing in “the monkey rules” that state a new baby monkey “has to wait their turn to nurse” or that not being on a chest and behind another baby is ok and going to let them survive. Those “monkey rules” have been made up by commenters and nothing even close to being as fact. Casi made it quite clear to calvin that he didn’t belong on her chest from the moment she picked him up. That’s an inevitable death sentence IF he stayed with Casi… and is probably why when any monkey sat by Casi, Calvin tried going to her and/or getting a reaction from her with calling at her. He was looking for his “mom.” Calvin instinctively knew that he had to be on a chest, with milk, to survive and is probably why he constantly fought to be and stay there and tried endlessly to block Celine from it. Celine was hindering his survival, or so it appeared he thought. Taylor and Fijis monkey let both the babies suckle from them but nothing for long term. Calvin was doomed without “his monkey” and obviously she had no interest in him or she would’ve at least tried getting him back. Casi wasn’t “helping” Calvin at all. That I can guarantee. She toted Calvin around as a status thing, as it’s scientifically documented they will do. It wasn’t to raise him or help him or to be kind and help a fellow troop mate. If that was so, another monkey would’ve “helped” Calvin when Casi constantly abandoned him. “Helping” other females young, just isn’t in their instincts. . But to kidnap, starve and ultimately kill, is and is scientifically documented as well. These are animals with animalistic tendencies. Not fuzzy humans with a moral compass.

I've seen other baby monkeys licking fruit juice. Also, Celine was only one day older than Calvin. That critter didn't have the good monkey sense to survive.

One part of monkey rules is you have practically no chance of feeding a baby monkey anything while it is with it's mother. On rare occasions she will allow it, but she almost always will rush and grab the baby before it takes food from anybody. And even more frequently, if a baby does get any food the mother will come and grab it and go so far as to pull it out of their mouth to eat it. They will even lick the babies teeth and gums if they see food in there. So it is rare that a baby will get anything to eat but the milk mom provides it. They are a bit stingey about it.
