An incredible overview Damian. Thank you. Was planning on using the Mitsubishi Outlander read drive unit but this looks very tempting as an alternative option. As an aside, I think my wife is a little in love with the way you say inverter and boy did you deliver that in droves tonight!

1:14:10 I actually found that better taps make it easier to cut plastic. But of course, usually you can't justify buying a 50-ish€ tap for a one time job :D Isopropyl alcohol works well as a coolant for tapping plastic.

That component removal method works great when you don't want to save the PCB.

Maybe try putting capton tape over the connector alignment pins to stop them from melting

Great job explaining the installation. Is it possible to connect the HV wires first then fish them through the cover?

Couldn't a magnet be used to fish out the dropped bolt?

Pls does anyone know what Vehicle that MG drive unit came from? Thanks in advance

This particular one was from an MG ZS as far as I know, but they put it in some (at least one) other cars as well. I think the MG 5 or so?

Why don't you replace that short cable with one that's twice as long while you're changing the PCB out?
@crasbee5 күн бұрын
Depending on the type and speed of signals going through the cable, a longer cable might cause issues with signal quality. And with the original cable you can be sure that it'll be crimped perfectly and won't cause any issues. DIY ribbon cables can be quite error prone due to bad alignment etc.
