I'm so happy they have an anime-accurate master grade kit for this; I was worried each new kit would add another 100 panel lines, vents, etc

I've built this kit. Honestly, I don't think that the lack of Core Block is an issue since the Gundam can be displayed WITHOUT the Core Fighter in it. Heck, the upper body articulation are actually MUCH better without the Core Fighter.
@kirillkapaln45362 жыл бұрын
the rgm-79 gm 2.0 has the core block if one really wants one. But just tightening the body to hip plate connectors worked great.

I just got this kit for Christmas. Based on your lovely review, I put it on my want list as my first master grade. I absolutely love how faithful it is to the 1979 anime, and I cannot wait to see this on my shelf fully built. I watched this review many times and made up my mind that this is the quintessential RX-78 that I had to have. It looks like it walked right out of the show. You have great taste!

This was my first kit. It was alot but it was the best build i ever did. Doing the exoskeleton and building to the panels. It really made me feel like i was designing a machine for shore. The pistons and the joints. And still having anime looks. It was great!

the lack of detail in this kit is really something we shouldn't take for granted. I don't believe Bandai will go back to this approach to aesthetics in the next, at least, decade or so

I recently got back into making some kits, the last being like 20 years ago, and I mistakenly went with the KO of this set...as I love my KO Transformers and figured the quality would be similar....it is not. Take your review and say the opposite, and that's how the KO kit ends up. I'm glad to hear the official is better, I'll be replacing it once I've finished my old MG Gun cannon and GM Command kits. Thanks for the reviews!
@eternalnemesis95224 жыл бұрын
This was my 3rd MG probably my 16th kit overall and I loved the building of it, however I had one problem. My core fighter was very loose, to the point where it wasn't able to hold the weight of the lower half of the body. It was dropped so many times in my attempts to change the pose that the legs can't connect properly anymore, literally turned into a hand grenade. I threw out the kit since it was practically missing too many parts to display (kept all the other aspects of the kit because they are all perfectly cool). I still have my HG without a V-fin but I'm going to be getting another MG Granddaddy soon, maybe just go PG so it can be my first one.

An RX-78-2 Gundam 2.0 I backordered is now about to be shipped! Between this and the "The Origin" RX-78-02 (which is based on a manga design that has become the de-facto modern look of the Gundam) that I've also backordered, I think I made the best choices when it comes to Master Grade Gundams. The One Year War version, based on its design in the games Journey to Jaburo and Encounters in Space is also supposed to be good, but I think the 2.0 and Origin are the way to go when it comes to Amuro's white mobile suit.

I've been building HG gunpla for about a year. I've only taken a shot at an RG build once, a Wing Zero Custom. I'm not fond of the hand/finger details but when I put it together, I only had two parts go all SNAFU on me. Overall, I love it. Been thinking about trying this out but I'm not sure if I should or not.

The gm 2.0 holds it shape fine with the core block removed. The surrounding pegs at the bottom of the torso that connect to the plate thats just above the hips can be thickened abit and holds better than the straight built core block. As a bonus one can now pull up that plate so the torso rotation clears the top of the side skirts!

i thickened the bottom body inner frame connecters on my gm 2.0 with brush on top coat (AK) and its strong enough to pull up the plate it connects to. The rotation is tall enough to clear the tops of the side skirts! Its not in the manual but the 2.0 can have a 360 torso spin!

Personally I think it's a bit too bare bones for my taste, especially when you get all that detail in the inner frame, but I think an extremely faithful anime accurate interpretation needs to exist and it has a perfect rx 78 2 head sculpt, much better than that goofy looking head on the origin master grade. For me though it's the ver ka or the 1.5. They're ancient but they look great when detailed up.

It would have been the perfect anime RX78-2 if it didn't have those short, stumpy(?) looking feet and big hands. But hey, at least it looks real good.
