When was the MG Hector Facelift launched?
At the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi, MG launched the new and updated Hector in India. The Hector facelift (alongside the Hector Plus facelift) was showcased a week before the official launch at the Auto Expo.

The MG Hector variants include Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro.
What features are available in the MG Hector?
The updated Hector gets a new fascia with a massive chrome grille which MG says is inspired by the Argyle design pattern famous in Scotland. No changes to the headlamp and LED DRLs, but the updated Hector still looks fresh in appearance. Even the silhouette remains unchanged and MG has retained the 215/55 R18 wheels with the five-spoke dual prong design.
At the back, the taillights get a revised signature with blade-like elements that light up individually when you press the brake pedal. You also get the word Hector slapped across the boot lid in massive letters while there’s an ADAS badge on the right side. Lastly, there’s also a new exterior paint shade called Dune Brown.
On the inside, the updated cabin gets white and black with some chrome elements for the dashboard and doors. The dashboard now gets a newer 14-inch touchscreen which is up from the 10-inch unit offered before. It also gets a new OS and a whole host of controls and features as a part of the upgrade.
The MG Hector also gets a Level 2 ADAS suite with 11 features as a part of the assistance systems. MG has updated the in-car controllability for the infotainment system by adding more connected car features. Also, the Hinglish voice control suite has been improved upon. One popular feature for Hector will be the Bluetooth key that can be enabled via the MG app.
The ADAS suite, which is new for the Hector gets features like adaptive cruise control, bend cruise assistance, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, intelligent headlamp control, safe distance warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, intelligent hydraulic braking assistance, traffic jam assist and automatic emergency braking (pedestrian). Moreover, the Hector gets a seating capacity of five passengers
What are the engine, performance and specifications of the MG Hector?
The updated MG Hector continues with the same powertrain lineup as the pre-facelift model. So it gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired either with a six-speed manual, a CVT or a DCT and produces 141bhp and 250Nm. Meanwhile, the diesel is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit producing 169bhp and 350Nm and is only available with a six-speed manual. There’s no automatic for the diesel and this means a majority of the ADAS functions is not available for the diesel-powered models.
Is the MG Hector a safe car?
Apart from the Level 2 ADAS suite, the Hector also gets six airbags in the range-topping versions along with rear parking sensors, ESP, TCS, HHC, ABS, EBD, brake assist, all four disc brakes, speed-sensing auto door lock function, high-speed alert system, and seat-belt reminder system. The Hector isn’t tested for NCAP rating yet.
