Another great video Andy. I look forward to the next one. I replaced my carb hoses but not the fuel pump, the next little job to do on my Midget.

Great video as usual Andy! Rather than a screw driver I usually use a ¼" drive ratchet with the appropriate sized socket to tighten and loosen hose clamps. And thanks for mentioning the orientation of those clamps... it's a good idea to make them as accessible as possible. Keep up the great work. Cheers, Ian.

Braided fuel pipes are the worse type. You can't see the actual pipe degrading until it's too late. I've had it happen to me a few times so now I go for plain rubber/silicon pipes when I replace them. I've been using E10 since its introduction in August/Sept 2021 in both my old cars; a 1989 2CV and 1932 Morris Minor Two-Seater, without any problems so far. There's a misconception regarding the amount of ethanol in E5 and E10. They're not strictly 5% or 10%, but 'up to 5% or 10%'. So E10 could be E6 or even E5.1. From what I've been hearing from the 'industry' there is a shortage of ethanol on the market so it's likely E10 is way lower than the 10% maximum allowed anyway. Love the 60s/70s Midget. The original M-Type Midget of 1929 was a boat-tailed two-seater based on the chassis and running gear of the original Morris Minor launched in 1928 to take on the Austin Seven.

Awesome video as always! Can't wait to see the next one. It's been slow over here due to the cold. It's lows of 30°F and highs of barley 50°f but I've got plas to get ready for paint. Anyway stay worm this week and happy holidays. 🦃

Ah corbin. I feel you. For me it's finding the time and money to getting stuff done ! My next job will most likely be the slave cylinder for the clutch. Got the part, and a remote bleed kit, just need now an easy bleed by gunsons and I'll be good to go!

Absolutely! I'm here in the UK and I've been running E10 in both my old cars. A 1989 2CV and a 1932 Morris Minor Two-Seater. I've done thousands of miles since E10 was introduced in August/Sept last year. Nothing to report. Both still function in exactly the same way as they have done on E5 and plain unleaded before it. It's just utter nonsense invented by the marketing depts. of companies who make 'special potions' to add to the fuel.

Yeah, those hoses were hosed, needed replacing even without ethanol. I bought a pair of hose pliers, basically a couple of forked teeth on the end, jam the forks in between the hose and the fitting, and squeezing it presses off the hose. Only used once in a while for sure, but when you do it is, so much easier. I really need to switch to an electric fuel pump. My mechanical one takes forever to prime the carb, and carb loses prime after about a week of sitting. So either drive it more than once a week, or switch to electric and let it run a few seconds to prime. There's no hand prime pump on my mechanical fuel pump either, shame. Well done, Andy. Keep up the fun.

Ooooo that's a good idea ! I may get some of them. Electric fuel pump all the way then! I have to wait 2 minutes each time for the floats to fill!

@@AndysMGAdventures plop into car, attempt to start, no start, sad Ken, clamber out of car, forget bonnet release, pop bonnet release, open boot, grab screwdriver from tool kit, open bonnet, pop off carb filter shroud, remember ether, grab ether from tool kit, spray ether (huff a little too), try start, start and die, more ether, more start, slowly spray ether to keep car alive for 30 seconds until running on petrol, clip carb air filter back on, lower bonnet, secure bonnet, secure ether and screwdriver, drop into cockpit, race away. Easy peasy.

Hi Andy After hearing your comment about not using braided fuel pipes, which i had purchased via MGOC Called them and they confirmed the braided fuel pipes they supply are in excess of the E10 requirement and have been for 10+ years as many country's worldwide have had the fuel for a long time. So I thought i would let you know. Have just finished fitting mine when looking at your video for clues of the routing of the fuel and brake pipes under car or in transmission tunel??? Can you advise??? Great videos Mark

Hmmm. Sadly I no longer have Margo. No idea where she is anymore which sucks. That said. I was told they could be e10 compliant BUT it's still hard to spot cracks and leak sources... so not sure really. They do look dang cool though !

Hi Andy brilliant video as always, Are you running E10 on your midget I’ve always thought I’ll avoid it for as long as I can, I will convert to electronic fuel pump and replace all my lines soon. If your running e10 and things to look out for etc?

Hey hey ooooo yeah fuel pump replacement is gonna be a good shout too. I am running e5 premium much as possible , and e10 sparsely. Slightly worried about looking underneath over the winter to see what state the other components are in!

@@AndysMGAdventures yeah I think from time to time I’ll put some e10 in when I’ve got half a tank or more of e5, trying to fine the balance of not breaking the bank with fuel and not killing my carbs!
