I always loved the look of the MGA and MGs in gerneral. In 1974 I found a restorable 59 MGA 1500 sitting in a weed patch near a house. True story, I traded an 8 track under dash tape player for the MGA and towed it home. Then did an amateurish restoration on the car. It looked great and drove great. Sold it in 1981 for $3,500 to get money for home improvements.

No, MGB's are not fast, but they handle ok,, overdrive is a must option,. I've done 7 of them over the years, along with other british stuff. Bottom line, a Properly Serviced, Properly put together MGB will be as dependable as any thing else you can drive, with a high fun factor.

Quite right, they were never were fast but the sound has always been distinctive. The shape timeless like a Morgan. The beauty is in the simplicity. I've always loved them.

Guessing not much approval for my 1964 MGB---tube frame, custom front and rear suspension, aluminum rod, solid roller cam, high compression 350 SBC (500hp or so), only MG parts under body are fuel tank (to be changed) and steering rack (good piece)-------BIG FUN!

Wish they still made them-just the same -not that stinking retro restyle crap. I've had 4 and drove the wheels off them. Loved my 1969 and 1972 MGBs the most out of all. Dependable and great fun and well balanced.

Biggest problem with MGs here in the Eastern United States is Rust! Absolute nightmare with my MGBs, undercarriage rust. Second problem I've had is electrical problems. I love the style and ride when it runs...

P.S. You can actually feel the road in the wheel. That tells you what the car is actually doing. Modern cars have absolutely no road fell at all and to me that's dangerous.

At 3.09 the car is zipping along the road yet the speedo is registering about 20 - 25mph. I guess this car is in need of sorting, either that or the background green screen needs synchronising...lol

@stratac306 жыл бұрын
There's no doubt the MGB is an appealing car especially the GT model, but would I buy one - no, there's something about them that's not right, it's probably because they lack performance. I recall by the early 70's you could buy a sporting saloon that could easily out perform a B and were better to drive. However there is a twist to this in that I have bought an MGC, a poor man's Austin Healey, not a car for traffic light grand prix's, but stacks of power with a minimum of fuss and they sound great - a proper sports car. The torque of a straight six is something to behold, something a B will never have.
@justindaley24606 жыл бұрын
Geoff T - it's certainly a nice sounding motor, but in reality the B is a much better balanced car than a C. Neither is a sports car, just a charming cruiser. It's entirely unrealistic to think that anybody would find either sporting when a base-model Fiesta would be quicker from A to B.

The MGB would have benefited with a change of design and modern accessories over the years 1962-1980. It just didn’t improve along with other cars of its ilk. Compare them with a Mazda M 5 and there’s no comparison. 103 mph is not fast enough for a sports car. I fitted mine with a Weber carny over the S Us better car overall

You are the wrong owner for an MGB. No understanding or appreciation.
@mqbitsko255 жыл бұрын
It most certainly does NOT have the performance of a modern saloon car. Doug DeMuro drove a fantastic old V12 Ferrari in one video and pointed out that, in raw numbers, it can't keep up with a Camry V6.
