MG ZST 2023 review: Essence | Does this compact, value-focused SUV help balance the family budget?

We have been driving a MG ZST Essence since Dec 2021 and have to say we are very satisfied with the car. For the price, it has most of the safety features and it serves our needs well. Only things missing as you have pointed out, are the directional air vents and centre armrest for rear passengers.

i won't pay 45k for the toyota crolla cross entry model. MG zst 25k comes with all luxry interior and all latest saftery features is amzing. it also has Asin 6 speed automatic transmission is big bonus for the money. toyota turning every car into cvt transmission is the big night mare for the future.

I’m confused by your lack of power comment. The car has outstanding power for its size, in fact it has more power than all the other crossover SUV’s in its class. I’ve only ever owned high performance cars, the last one being the least powerful of them all which was a subaru wrx. I find the zst to have plenty of power for what it is, it’s not meant to be a performance car it’s meant to be a cheap entry level family car. I’ve not had a problem with it even after owning cars with nearly 4 times the power. For its price it’s a great car.

I completely agree. I just upgraded from a V8 VE Commodore Redline with the 6L engine which i bought new off the showroom to the MG ZST Excite. I've owned countless muscle cars, and actually only just also sold my VK with a 383 stroker which was an absolute weapon just that motor cost more then the whole MG. I dont find the MG under powered either on the highway or in town. The output is more than adequate for the vehicle, you will have no issues getting a bunch of speeding tickets on the freeway if you wanted. So i'm also really confused with her comment.

I also owned an fpv GT 302 kw and a xr8 el .I drove these v8s as daily drivers for 15 years .The MG zst has more than enough power .I can get in front of most cars at the lights and can overtake easily when needed .

@@alexi21san Exactly, it's not a race car it's an every day driver with plenty of power for it's intended purpose. She must of had her makeup bag slide under the accelerator pedal.

Beautiful car .I got this exact colour and grade .After a few months of ownership I’m very happy .If you want the extra bit of power put it in sports .More than enough power .

The ZST is well built. We have an Excite that was delivered in December. The only issue is the pathetic infotainment system. The Apple carplay and abdriod auto are both flawed. Cutting out and lagging by up to 10 sets or more causes issues. Try connection your phone.

My zst vibe is wireless CarPlay, easy $30 upgrade. Let me point out disadvantages No rear cup holders No rear cabin light 360 camera should have show blind spot when car is changing lanes No eco mode 7/10 is correct

Indeed, most cars are going smaller these days and the 3cyl in this car has about as much hp as Holden’s early v8 engine. Granted it has about 100nm less torque but both the motor and car weigh half as much as what those v8’s did. The Koenigsegg gemera supercar has only 3cyl and it makes 600hp! Big displacement motors are dead.

I think it is a reflective triangle, if you’re having to pull over for whatever reason, you can put it out as a hazard warning for other drivers, I believe.

I am certain that some parts of a Ferrari are built in China or shipped from China. Some western car makers are building cars in China, made from chinese resources and of course made by chinese people. Japan at the start of their car industry was not known for superior quality, but because of low cost, approachable cars anyone could buy. We are witnessing now that chinese industry is coming to age and starting to produce cars with quality and fair price. They know now better and they have the financial security to do it, as on the other side the western car makers are reducing their production because they lack the resources and the market cant support high priced vehicles actually. China as we see does not have these issues. I am not chinese, I just try to be objective
