Exactly as you said, same issue. Got it started with your help, thank you and works OK with jumping the pins. If it works without it. Why does it need replacing? Where did you source replacement that isn't already water damaged? New ones are 184quid.

Search ebay, they're on there. I'll try and explain what it does..... if you look when you first start the car, the instruments run a self test and the radio will go off when cranking as well as some othee stuff. The dc to dc converter stops that from happening every time the car re starts in a stop/start condition. As long as the battery is in good shape you wont notice anything when the dcdc is bypassed. If the battery voltage drops low enough then the instruments, radio and heater will go off during a stop/start restart.

Thanks Exactly same problem , with ur help i resolve, Wht was the source , or the way from water goes in did u figured out? I am looking still how water goes in

@adnana.shahban4151 the rear door seal has a hard lump inside on the top corner. If you remove the seal and rotate it so that the lump is further down the side then the door shuts better.

I have had the same issue. A week of clearing the water and drying out the car. I did replace the door seal and get a new DC/DC converter (£184 from MG dealer) and installed a wooden block to keep it off the floor of the car. I would like to ask how long it took for the dashboard amber light to clear the stop/start to rework?

@@adnana.shahban4151I found that water was running through the seal where the foot of the passenger may step in the car. Looked very damp and corroded (£18 from MG dealer) when I removed it

These 2 videos have really helped me this last week when we were down in South Wales visiting family. We suffered the DC/DC converter going after it LASHED it with rain for several days straight: managed to pick up a new unit from a breakers in Cardiff and persuaded a local Ford garage to make the repair you have suggested. We now have the ongoing issue of seals and of dealing with the water ingress. Any suggestions as to how best to deal with it? My local garage when we got home suggested drilling a hole and then bunging it with a rubber grommet...

Water test it with someone inside with a torch and see where it's coming in. Usually it's the door seals that go flat and leak. You can bulk them up by threading some 6mm washer pipe into the seal through one of the small holes.

Great to see. I have a 2016 model, owned since new. I definitely will move my DC/DC converter so avoid problems but why not take it to dashboard if wires are that length as you say? Is it because you would have to destroy the wrapping around wiring loom?
@pistonbroke2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I couldn't be bothered to unwrap all the wiring loom.

Is clearance reduced when someone is sat in the seat?

Probably a bit but so far I've had no problems with it

How long and is it safe or risky to drive the car once it's been overridden/bypassed?
@pistonbroke11 ай бұрын
How long is what? Yes it's perfecly fine with it bypassed provided it's done properly.

I wonder if was positioned there for the purposes of cooling as it uses the car's body has a heatsink... Or in most cases, it's water cooled 😛 Don't blame u for moving it!
@pistonbroke2 жыл бұрын
It's not for cooling and it doesn't get hot, well except for when it shorts out. Mines been on top of the carpet for a couple of years now. Had no problems with it.

There wasn't a leak. I moved the dc/dc convertor onto the seat frame in case there was ever a leak.

I was wondering fella if i could ask a question, I'm thinking of getting one of these on finance probably 2015 and are they worth a punt or best avoided? Thank you.
@pistonbroke4 жыл бұрын
They're not too bad. Cheap and cheerful, not very quick (gutless in fact) and the build quality could be better but they do handle well. You get what you pay for and for a cheap run around that's fairly new then they aint bad. I've had mine for about 18 months and I like it. If you get one that's older than 2016, make sure the timing chain has been done as they were prone to jumping on the earlier models. 2016 onwards didn't suffer with it as they modified. Shop around and see what you can get at a good price, there's plenty to choose from.
@theun-personing56744 жыл бұрын
@@pistonbroke Thanks for the advice pal. I heard some suffer with timing chains but what bloody car doesn't these days 😂 i thought it was 2013-2014 models. I think a 2016 model will be a bit of a stretch (excuse the pun) for me cash wise.

Parts are a nightmare to find. 1.5 is gutless unless you properly wind it up. Then it goes great.
@MrAdrianGrigore4 жыл бұрын
There's a "reason" behind such apparently brainless engineering; service departments need to make more money. No manufacturer wants to take blame for bad parts, however, they just love customer negligence as they would consider water ingress to be lack of maintenance or negligence, both of which will cause this. This is why some parts are located in really stupid places or inaccessible. My old D3 has its transmission module in the engine bay near the ECU but it's the only component that's not waterproof, hence a simple jet wash of the engine bay at low pressure or wading deeper than 750mm will kill the engine. This on a vehicle that claims to be the best in 4x4's. My previous Pajero "waded" by accident in 4 feet of water and didn't complain.
