Hi. Had my MG4 delivered yesterday, my first EV, and your videos have been so helpful in getting me ready. Thanks so much. Interestingly, the 'star' shortcut options for the left button are different from the ones mentioned here. Mine are 'Android / Airplay' or a screen of shortcuts (Bluetooth, volume and a few other I can't remember). I don't know if this is a general software update change or different for the SE model, but not as useful as the ones in this video! Thanks again.

Excellent. I have mine on order due to be delivered in May. I am assuming that the 360 camera comes on if you put the car into reverse ? Also does it activate if you are moving at a slow speed and driving forward into a car parking space between cars for example ?

Do you have to turn the driver assist in the mg pilot to cruise control before the steering wheel icon will work ? I picked up my mg4 the a few weeks ago, the steering wheel icon only works after I’ve turned the cruise control on in the mg pilot settings ? Thanks

MG don't supply one. I have seen a makeshift plastic box installed by an individual, the only issue you will have is sealing it against the elements, so a box with a lid is a must.

Great video series! Been really useful for my new Trophy that I picked up today. However, setting the left quick access to a shortcut causes an error of "Disable climate control shortcut" when I try to use it. Sometimes even making the Ac controls pop up even though I'm trying to access the 360 parking camera. You seen this message before when setting up the left quick access options?

Firstly very happy with the car, the overall build quality and finish is fantastic. My dealer said it was very well finished with excellent panel gaps and paint. I live half a mile from a road down a rutted track. The car NEVER rattles or squeaks, the only other vehicle I have owned that was as quiet over the bumps is my wife's Suzuki Ignis 4 wheel drive. Top 3 niggles are 1) bugs at launch. Lane assist, the preheat bug, lack of energy graph on trophy model, settings like lane assist turning back on every time you start the car. I would lump these together as one big gripe. 2) The option to have basic cruise control, i.e. set a speed and the car just stays at that speed. Sometimes that's all you need, without lane assistance etc. 3) Parts availability. There are none. Virtually no spares in the dealers. Hopefully this will improve as uptake of the cars increases. But currently waiting a month for a windscreen for example is not acceptable. Top 3 likes are 1) rapid charge speed. This is a game changer for me on long journeys. Even my 2020 Kia Soul could only charge at 80KW max, other than the Teslas (S and 3) we had before, sitting around 1½ hours waiting for a 50 KW charge is just too long. 2) Price. To get this much car for the price is amazing. 3) Ride comfort/quality. The lunatic trend to 18/20/22/50 inch wheels is madness. They only bring harsh ride, ridiculous tyre costs, higher puncture and kerbing risk and reduced energy efficiency. This car rides really well, without being too soft, it handles surprisingly well for its weight and price, it is quiet and comfortable, and that really is what the majority of owners will want.

I was intending to order a Qashqai, actually test drove one back to back with the MG4, then instantly changed my mind after driving the MG4. The RWD, 50/50 distribution, linear power curve and multi-link suspension felt really engaging as a 'driving enthusiast' and I couldn't wait to get back in it. You see on many review channels that the journalists have a little smile on their face behind the wheel. Interesting comment regarding the wheels , and true. The 17" wheels, visually, are a bit of a niggle for me. The body is so striking that I think it needs presence under the arches. I found a video with 18" wheels, just 1" more completely transforms the looks (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqOkfXidqt6agNk), though I guess this is also subjective. I'm a little tempted to change the wheels, though will probably end up leaving them! Regarding the software, guessing that manufacturers allow for a little real world testing, feedback, optimising. Hopefully, in 6-12 months it will be pretty polished?

My preference is to assign the 360 camera to the left button. However this does mean changing the drive mode is a bit of a faff. Do you just leave it in Normal mode?

Yes, I leave it in Normal with full regen, I guess on long motorway trips I'll dial the regen down to minmum, as coasting is more efficient.

Hello. I have an MG4 Trophy. It has done just over 600 miles after being delivered at the end of May. On a recent trip I found the Satnav completely lost its GPS signal temporarily. The main screen now no longer shows any kind of local weather/temperature information. The car is telling me I need to Activate Head Unit but doesn't seem to respond to any commands . I suspect I am doing something rather stupid. I don't suppose you have the answer? MG can't give me a diagnostic appointment for a month or so and need the car all day !

Only just got mine, but looks like either the cruise control camera or sensor is faulty. Doesn’t seem to pick up road markings very well, while my old ZS had no problems on the same roads 😢.

The lane assist on the MG4 is awful, it is the worst problem with the car, and tries to kill me on country lanes, it won't stay off either so has to be disabled each journey. Hopefully a software update is coming soon to fix it.

I took delivery of my MG4 SE last week and the ability to map the left hand star button to the drive mode would be very much welcomed, given this setting isn't remembered between on vehicle start. However on my car, there are only two options available - one is android auto/apple toggle - I can't remember the other one -sorry. The drive mode isn't there. What am I doing wrong? Is the drive mode option only available on the Trophy version? :-(

@@willparslow There are a few missing "features" / bugs - that take the shine off an otherwise very good car. If this star button issue and the more general saving of some important settings across car restarts problems were addressed - this would go a long way to providing an excellent driving experience. Please do raise this with MG Will and report back here on what they say. I am doing the same.

Perhaps reset the car? Hold down the home button for 15 seconds until the software restarts.... Best do this while parked, and not in a hurry to go anywhere. Otherwise trip to the dealer required

This video is completely unhelpful. Every software version is different and MG keep updating them, so basically nothing works. Menu screens on my car bear almost no relation to this, the cruise doesn't work, and voice activation is dead as a dodo, but strangely does work with Apple Carplay. The MG4 has to be one of the most annoying cars I've ever driven, and to say it's unintuitive would be an understatement.
