A painter's passion for his art, his contradictions, frustrations, and pains affect his relationships with his wife and his model mistress.
"Mga Uod at Rosas" is a 1982 drama film directed by Romy Suzara and written by Edgardo Reyes; the film is based on the latter’s novel of the same name. Ding (Johnny Delgado), a struggling Mabini artist, finds himself entangled between Socorro (National Artist for Film Ms. Nora Aunor), his landlady’s daughter, and Nina (Lorna Tolentino), his model, both of whom have meaningful contributions to his career. Other cast members include Joseph Sytangco, Ariosto Reyes Jr., Edwin O'Hara, Menggie Cobarrubias, Pio De Castro III, Tony Carreon, Nello Nayo, Renato Robles, and Luz Fernandez among others.

Johnny Delgado is very good in this film. He looks, dress and acts like a struggling painter. He should have won a Best Actor award here. Lorna Tolentino, although the character is one dimensional, is convincing as the materialistic model. Nora Aunor is at her usual acting style, sad to say, nothing new to offer. She was nominated in this film where she is way, way better in "Himala." This film is perhaps director Romy Suzara's finest work.
