0:17 Snake is incorrect here, actually. The SOCOM (or Mk23/Mark 23 is it is known IRL) does not have an average service life of 6,000 rounds. The 6,000 round number actually refers to "mean rounds between failures" meaning that Snake seriously undershoots the reliability of the SOCOM. The gun, during testing, only jammed every *six thousand shots*. The actual number of rounds the Mk23 is capable of eating before a spring wears out is closer to the tune of 30,000 rounds. Truly one of the most durable and reliable handguns ever made.

the reason for some of the inaccuracies in firearms descriptions in MGS2 is because they used Wikipedia and other early 2000s internet stuff as their sources, translated from english. for example, much of the info given about Force XXI in MGS2 is ripped straight from a super old website, almost word for word.

Hatred You must collect the enemies' dog tags throughout the entire game on each difficulty. Hold up an enemy from behind, aim your gun at their head or groin and they should drop their dog tags. If they refuse, fire a lethal shot at their limbs then they'll give you their dog tags. Btw you must be facing in front of the enemy in order to attempt to get the dog tags.

Man, I always imagine what it'd be like to revisit the Big Shell with say MGS3's or MGS4's game engine. Being able to explore the entire thing and take advantage of things like climbing around struts, climbing down and swimming around the plant. MGS1,2 and 3 run on the same engine. POPS,POPS+ and Peacewalker run on a version bases on MGO1's branch of MGS3's version of the engine. 4 runs on a heavily modified version.
