I'm just rewatching everything from this channel, Pythonselkan, FuturaSounds and others relating to MGSV and MGS series in general. What a huge adventure. I'm just around 18:21 and the comment on the memory of Kaz's betrayal being erased triggered a thought in me: MGSV was the first MGS in the series which got a major native release on PC right from day one since MGS 1 and two only got the PC ports of the afterwards. So this game was probably the first MGS title for many PC only people who never played on consoles. Which means that whoever played MGSV as the first MGS title - just how I did - got the ultimate immersion of having no memories of the "past" in the MGS timeline from the other games. Otherwise I would think that such a thing like the discrepancy between PW Kaz and GZ/TPP Kaz should definitely raise an eyebrow on a experienced fan and player of the MGS saga. Hard to say if this immersive effect was planned or just a lucky opportunity.

I groan every time someone says MGSV is great except for the story. I love the story because its a complex puzzle. Now I can show this video to people instead of explaining it myself. Thank you. Its a smart story, smart gameplay, and this video is also smart!

There is only one big boss venom is a hallucination Ocelot set up the attack on Mother Base in 1975. Skullface had no need or motive to attack Mother Base, nor was he likely present at the attack. Ocelot however, in his lifelong quest to fulfil his mother’s will, had motive to remove the now directionless Big Boss. At the end of Peace Walker we see Big Boss abandon his own interpretation of the Boss’s will. He no longer believed in the Boss. The hero of GroznyjGrad was gone and instead there was just a mercenary with no direction in his place. Ocelot couldn’t of liked that his idol and the man who was to carry his mother’s legacy had suddenly let it all go. We know both Zero and Sigint were involved in Peace Walker, we don’t know how Ocelot was involved, or even if he was involved. But we do know Ocelot had a long history of secret units (like his own unit in Snake Eater) and we know XOF is a secretive arm of the Patriots and formally part of FOX. We also know they, and Skullface, were not present in Costa Rica. It is my belief that Skullface was enacting his plan to take out Zero during this time and that Ocelot is the one who informed him about Paz (who played a role Ocelot would usually play) and that she knew where Zero was. Ocelot would even promise to deliver Paz and, by extension, Zero to Skullface. For a price. Big Boss needed to lose MSF, he needed to regain purpose and he needed to become the legendary Naked Snake again, as opposed to some vagabond gun for hire. Ocelot approached Huey, acting as an inspection agency. This ensured he could keep Big Boss off of the base during the attack. Things got out of hand when Big Boss arrived back at base though, ending with the crash that wasn’t supposed to transpire. Skullface wasn’t supposed to try and kill Big Boss via Paz either. Neither of these events factored into Ocelot’s plan. Ocelot needed Miller out of the picture, however after the botched destruction of Mother Base he couldn’t just have him killed because he would still hold use in the future. That’s why they were separated at the hospital. Ocelot had a golden opportunity to reshape John into the man he should have been. Having Miller around could have ruined the process. Through tapes, hypnotic suggestion, prolonged exposure to ideas in a controlled environment and through Ocelot’s usual methods of drugging and electrotherapy he breaks Big Boss down to the basics, to a canvas he can reshape into the legend he believes Big Boss should be. He kills off the identity of “John” by creating the narrative that he is a separate person. Miller would be a problem here because he would remind Big Boss of their dream. He could deconstruct Ocelot’s brainwashing of Big Boss. So Ocelot has Miller captured and tortures him severely. We know from MGS and MGS2 that Ocelot was a notorious torturer within the Soviet forces in Afghanistan in the 80s. We know that’s where he got the handle “Shalashaska” and we know he was notorious in the region. We also know the Soviets, with the assistance of the Skulls (a Cipher unit) captured Miller, put a bag over his head, limited his vision with sensual deprivation and then he was tortured for no clear reason. His arm and leg were removed, he was likely reminded constantly about the people who died, who he let down. Ocelot needed to break Miller, to turn him insane. Miller would serve as motivation for the newly revamped Big Boss and would also be key in helping drum up troops to follow the legend once more. Money no longer mattered, revenge did. Miller was so broken and vengeful that he had no inclination to look at what was going on. He never even questioned what Ocelot was doing on Mother Base or how he had gained so much influence over operations there. He didn’t question why Ocelot’s KGB unit were on the base with them. Ocelot, for his part, did not want to trigger Big Boss’s memory either. So he behaved completely out of character. He acted like a subordinate to a man he basically had to spoon feed. He spent very little time with the rest of Mother Base’s management team, he took it upon himself to DNA test Eli despite MB having a state of the art medical wing. Ocelot couldn’t risk having “Venom” realise he was the real Big Boss because it would possibly trigger a return to his 1975 outlook. Ocelot is only ever seen behaving like himself away from Big Boss. In front of him he’s this yes man with little personality. He still held Big Boss’s hand and led him down certain paths. The head trauma Big Boss suffered left him in an already damaged and incoherent state so it wasn’t hard for Ocelot to take control from the background. For the lie to be complete Ocelot decides to trigger Big Boss’s belief he isn’t the original. After the breakdown over Paz it became clear to Ocelot that he needed to advance the illusion to cement the idea. As far as ‘Venom’ and Miller needed to know, the man who gave up on the Boss was gone, he was off somewhere starting some fruitless adventure as a complete nobody. But he’d left a message for ‘Venom’. “You’re Big Boss, he is the both of us together”. He was no longer Big Boss, rather, Big Boss was no longer John. Big Boss was a story that would unite the world. The way Ocelot believed his mother had wanted. An icon to unify under that didn’t have a nation, a religion, an economic or sociological model. A man who would fight for what he believed in whilst risking his life for others. Not some money driven war criminal, but a hero. Not an enemy of the times like the Big Boss of 1975, but an icon of the times, like the Big Boss who stopped Nuclear annihilation time and again in the 60s and early 70s. Ocelot could never be the man to carry out his mother’s will in the public eye, he was too far gone by the time he understood. But Big Boss could be that person. We know there was no limit to how far Ocelot would go to see the Boss’s vision realised. Between him and Solid Snake it finally was. Big Boss at the end of everything had regained himself, and probably held onto a bit of his mental doppelganger too. As he made peace with his clone at the end of his life he realised why Ocelot had acted the way he did, and how when his Venom Snake plan fell through Ocelot had decided to put himself through the same ordeal. Ocelot really did carry out the Boss’s will, at the sacrifice of his own name, image, legacy and life. Just like his mother before him.

Venom maybe represents the player entirely. I mean WE are big boss now aren't we? The game is essentially a virtual experience given to us by Kojima. As you pointed out in the side ops in the ground zeroes game. Everything had a purpose in something bigger. I was thinking maybe Raidens side ops also plays a very important role? Body snatchers..time travel? A cyborg ninja? It's all very absurd, but I think it more than validates a point of V. We as the player accept what is the reality. It could be like how Raiden also went through his own VR trainnin before MGS2 but this is for the player to be Big Boss? We do create the character of ourselves in that world and we believe that we are the medic. But it's just a virutal experience.

I was curious about lighting in MGS:5 TPP during my play through. If you played Spec ops the line there also the game used lighting as a way to convey player what was real and what was hallucination. In MGS:5 TPP those bar code like flashes which you mentioned and the sound for me it conveys something is "SYNCHRONIZING" , and sounds very "Computer-Like".

I feel like MGSV is portraying something similar as to MGS2 - you, the player, is put into a big lie. MGS2 did it in a rather traditional fashion - everything is barely understandable until the end of the game, where the pieces fall together for you conviniently. MGSV is a more realistic take on this situation - you ARE the character, and the character is you. The pieces to break down these lies are there, but you have to find them, and put them together into 1 picture.

GZ and TPP are both parts of the same simulation. The title screen of GZ even has a red light, floaty specks, and the suspicious soldier that can be seen while selecting a mission (which I think is also a projection of Mantis, like Ishmael). Just like Ishmael watching over Venom at the beginning of TPP... with red light... and floaty specks...

My maan. This theory of yours gave me a wild MGS dream. Guess that hypno thing is real. Damn you kojima i want the truth. Big Boss was at a lengthy mission save the world kinda deal. He ends up in a very emocional bossfight against Kaz. Meanwhile Solid Snake was tasked with an annoying job of babysitting (which he complained throughrouly that he shouldve been out there. That was inside a normal house. Liquid comes along SNAAAAKE LIIIQUIIID And they have a bossfight aswell. Liquid gets the upper hand, manages to kidnap the girl via cable chopper. Snake gets a knife on his shoulder ans is pinned against the wall. Campbell codec calls him, Snake! What happened??! He replies They are taking the girl. Its strange colonel, she is not being shaken by any of this chaos, she is still happy. Campbell surprisingly is happy about that. "Snake! You know what that means? It works! She is living proof that you can be happy all the time. The treatment works!" "The question is: Why aren't we?" Cinemsticn ensues with the girl being dragged. Snake and liquid grunt faces, Camera turns big boss ans kaz. Turns again and goes to a news report. The newswoman says "Reality is often not what it seems, but what we make of it" I wake up.

I still think you're right; and Venom is Grey Fox and that's why Frank Jaegger isn't in the game. It's why for the first time in a MGS game; we are asked if we can recall our name. It's why he's referred to as, "The top Lt. The best man we ever had" that's the EXACT same way Boss speaks about Grey Fox after his death. It explains why Grey Fox is unstable, AND why he cuts off Ocelots hand. It was a revenge play. Venom Snake is Grey Fox is a recreation run by Zero to see if Big Boss can be recreated since Les Enfants is still in the air. I think the real year is 1999, 2 years before the Shadow Moses incident. Technology is also just more indicative of that time. The only 3 questions I haven't answered are; what up with Dr. Clark Who is Skull Face actually (although I think it might be Zero himself interacting with the world because he would know EXACTLY how to motivate someone to come shut down a Metal Gear) Why run the experiment? Why go to all the trouble to build a fake world, and leave clues inside of it that none of it is real? Unless there's 2 people inside the machine. Unless 2 consciousness are pulling on each other, and altering the reality inside the environment, I can't imagine why Venom/Grey Fox would allow himself to be told he isn't Snake multiple times over, and I can't imagine someone programming the simulation to reveal itself as a simulation, that would undue the experiment entirely.

As a Kaz fan (well, and other characters too), it would break my heart if I knew he was actually villainous in any way. His charm and fun side were ruined in Ground Zeroes and MGS5, and I knew it would never come back again. Or at least, not for a long time. And the idea of him working with Skullface makes me feel sick. I am also a huge Big Boss fan, and the idea of him being Skullface confuses me and makes me feel betrayed in so many ways. I really hope that these things are not the case. With that said, I appreciate your hard work! I really hope you continue with these videos! I liked the video, there were plenty of great points that I haven't seen before, but my guy... You've really gotta stop just straight up taking points from PythonSelkanHD and acting like they're new. You're a lot better off just referencing the point and moving onto your own point, this could've been half the length as a result, and a lot less painful for fans of P&S. I'm subbed, I gave the video a like, but seriously dude, it's damn near plagiarism at some points. Part 1 of my own series did primarily focus on their content, but A) it was intended as a crash course on the info they presented, and B) I was new to the ruse cruise so I was just putting pieces together as a basis for my theories moving forward. I even stated that any proceeding parts would be primarily focusing on points of my own. And they were. I will occasionally reference P&S's content, but no more than a minute is spent on any given topic they've already gone into great detail on.
@Vegito10896 жыл бұрын
I have to reference some points that are in PythonSelkan videos. Those points are in the game and since it relates to main subject of the video, if I don't do it, it seems incomplete. Not everyone has seen PythonSelkan videos and that's why I want to make a direct response in my next one about his Gray Fox theory. Not only drawing attention to his videos but to give him amazing credit for all the hard work he has done and also to respond to his own theories. Its not like he has claim to certain theories, evidence or talking points so that means no one else can expand on it. I would have done this a lot sooner but my channel is mainly DBZ so no one would be interested. I am doing it now because my interest in DBZ has diminished at the moment and I am trying to get back into my editing mindset. I think ruse is ending pretty soon so I thought I may as well throw a few cents in before its all done I have seen your videos before, they are really great! I'll give it another watch later and leave a comment too.
@RetroHellspawn6 жыл бұрын
@@Vegito1089 My point wasn't just referencing, more to instead make a reference to their content instead of re-explaining it. If you treat their videos as research points, or even reference material, then it's up to the viewer to go out and watch the already existing explanation. They have a massive following, the largest in terms of the ruse on KZbin, so it's more likely that if someone's landing on your video, they found P&S first. If they haven't, you talking about not only who you heard it from, but also what video you got it from, will save you time in editing and give them more traffic that they deserve. That's my point in what I was saying. Think of it like a college paper, citing sources for research. That's the way I treat writing my scripts, it's somewhere between me being me and an essay. :P I don't like making straight up video-essays unless it's a really serious topic, like if I were to talk about the world or politics rather than a video game. For my own content, it feels too bland and that's just not who I am. I may put my spin on a video-essay, but I still treat referencing others' works as if it were a real essay. Professionalism where it matters makes a difference. ;) P.S. : Would love a shoutout, I'm definitely gonna be making a shoutout to you in Part 4. ;) I didn't discover your content till after I made Part 3, otherwise you would've had a mention there. :P There was some really good stuff in the past couple videos you've put out, particularly the S3 screenshot and the strange instance of the classic dying sound emanating from Venom. Ohh, and the mention of the camera double-take, along with the grunt seemingly coming from the camera perspective. Really good stuff. ;) *edited to add P.S. and correct a couple typos

No. Pointing things out that have otherwise been pointed out before in the game is not plagiarism. Python is a POS and he makes money jerking off the fanbase who eat up his ideas. He is good at making connections but his conclusion is a farse that even he himself doesn't believe. The real truth is they WE are Venom. The player. The Medic isn't real. We are. We my friend DO share the memories of Big Boss because we played all the games. Like Venom tho we still hold our own interpretations of The Boss' will that may or may not different than Big Boss' but it is still our own interpretation.
