Estes Big Daddy Super Strength Motor/ Fin Mounts

You can use an Estes Big Daddy as a teaching vehicle to learn how to make super strong fin and motor mounts using the removable/replaceable aft ring technique described by Tim Van Milligan at Apogee components. For a bigger, high powered rocket, you would use epoxy rather than the wood glue in this particular video.

Another excellent tutorial! If I may suggest one thing……. After you lay your fillets, peel the tape off as soon as you can and then wipe down the glue line where the tape was with Q-Tips dowsed in rubbing alcohol. It blends the seam much smoother and helps from having to later sand it down much, if at all.

@@6527dave Except I’m no rookie. Building rockets since 1967. It was late at night and I was tired when I grabbed that tape! And exactly why I cautioned against it.
