MGW SHIFTER INSTALL 2005 2009 MUSTANG

I’m buying one tonight and wanted to see the install but i just wanted to say, you guys did a great job with not only instructions but also suggestions, tips and do nots. Very much appreciated. Its not often you’ll get great instructions from the company supplying the parts

For sure, drop the drive shaft! aA couple minutes to do that will save you a TON of time and frustration otherwise. Also put the boot on BEFORE you put it up. DOing it from the top is a PIA, and y=will take a lot of time. Make sure you screw the shift adjuster all the way in. I think I still had a few turns, but it was pretty hard. I turned out 4, but my gut tells me I was further now as I shift. Very notchy.

I tried to install with the boot already attached and this was our only hang up with the install. once we took the boot off, it slipped right in. 5 turns out is so perfect! I couldn't imagine the throw bring any shorter. also, Flat Stick version is THE way to go. Looks great in silver.

Was much easier for me to drop the front of the driveshaft to remove/install the shifter since the shifters where to long to fit through the hole. set mine to shortest throw and now it's nice and tight. Best mod I've done to my car and I've done quite a few

Just got my mgw Flat stick today. Can't wait to install it on Saturday along with some other "goodies" for my Mustang GT. I'm gonna put the rubber dust boot on it BEFORE inserting it in,then its all a matter of bolting it up and trying it out. I debated for weeks to either go with MGW,Hurst,or Barton.I'll find out soon enough if I made the right choice!

I installed my flat stick version yesterday. I used a jack and stands and had plenty of room to work around the driveshaft. I'm at 2 turns out and that's pretty short compared to stock. It is worth every penny. I won't miss 3rd again. I scoured the Mustang forums about shifters and no matter which one they are talking about, Someone always claims MGW is one of the top two. They sold me.

@@MGWINC had mine installed yesterday and im locked out of 2nd pretty much, every once in a while I'll get it to go. Im told its not adjusted rite...? What do you think. My tech that did it at ford is a master. He has one in his 15 procharged gt. I talked to George and they are supposed to give him a call so he can explain how to adjust properly. Im worried that it wont adjust. I hope it all works out....2020gt with 750 miles

To adjust it you turn it all the way in and then bring it out 4 turns

Thanks I wish he went more in depth with that part of the video as that’s probably the most important part and what everyone wants is that short shifting adjustment, sucks he kinda skimmed over that part.

MGWINC cool! Yeah I put mine at 4 and can’t think of why anyone would want to go past 5 for a street application. Gotta say this thing is beyond awesome! I have run other shifters from reputable brands in other Mustang models but this is by far the best thing I’ve ever felt for a shifter.

Mine only goes 3 turns from fully turned clockwise?

Okay, I'm glad someone asked this. When he said the max allowable number of turns was 10, I worried about turning mine a full 5 revolutions. My trans shifting so poorly with that short of a throw and thought he may have meant a quarter turn=a turn. Anyways, I reset mine back to the longest throw. And that's the best feeling shifting point. Glad I didn't goof up my trans even tho it felt like straight up garbage.
